Requirements
  • The position requires a master’s degree in graphic design.
  • Three or more years of recent and successful work experience in teaching graphic design at the college level.
  • Five years of recent professional work experience for clients in the field of visual communication design.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, student, and community population is required.
  • Mac OS (and Windows) proficiency.
  • Strong proficiency in typography (static and kinetic).
  • Graphic design expertise including typography, design principles, layout, and color.
  • Motion graphics and animation expertise using After Effects and other animation software.
  • Web design expertise in user experience and user interface design using HTML, CSS, and Figma.
  • Illustration expertise in a range of styles and media for editorial and narrative applications.
  • Adobe Creative Suite proficiency (primarily Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and XD).
  • Experience teaching graphic design at the college level and professional work in visual communication design.
Responsibilities
  • Teach four courses each semester in the fall and the spring, for a total of eight courses for the year.
  • Develop and deliver courses with projects that reinforce conceptual and critical visualization skills, image-making methods, and production techniques.
  • Present and teach in areas of Graphic Design with emphasis in typography conceptualization and creating visual form, including deliverable artifacts such as posters, publications, menus, packaging, logos, and branding.
  • Teach UI/UX Design courses, including HTML and CSS fundamentals, app concepting, wireframing, UX/UI prototyping for websites and mobile apps using Figma.
  • Teach Motion Design courses that integrate typography, images, video, audio, and special effects to create animations and motion graphics.
  • Teach Illustration courses focused on editorial, advertising, and book illustration through various media and styles.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum with program mission and interdisciplinary opportunities.
