Who could you be at GHD?

Our Materials Technology team combine scientific knowledge and practical engineering skills to our clients' projects. Our engineers provide services including construction material durability and selection, condition assessment and rehabilitation, cathodic protection design, monitoring and troubleshooting, construction phase quality testing and certification across multiple industries, including commercial and heritage property, water and wastewater, power, oil and gas, industrial, marine, roads, tunnels and bridges.

This team of technical specialists are currently looking for Graduate Materials Engineer to join our Structures, Bridges & Materials team in either Melbourne or Traralgon. This role will commence with our Graduate cohort in mid 2026 (June/July intake). 

We’re looking for someone who:

• has recently graduated (or is a current student expecting to graduate by the end of 2025 or by mid-2026) with a degree in Materials Engineering/Science, Civil Engineering or similar
• is interested in working in a consulting environment, within the engineering sector
• has a high attention to detail, as well as good time management and organisational skills
• has great verbal and written communication skills
• is great team player, enthusiastic and willing to learn

Our two-year Graduate Development Program is designed to give you a smooth start to your consulting career. Alongside your peers, managers and mentors, we’ll help you detangle any challenges along the way.

• Video interviews: If you make it through the first stage, you’ll record some answers to a few straightforward questions. This helps us get a sense of your communication style and what excites you about GHD.
• Meet the team: Next, you’ll have a face-to-face or virtual interview with your prospective team. We’ll chat through some behavioural based questions to learn more about your skills and experience. It’s also a chance for you to get to know us!
• Psychometric assessments: These quick tests give us a glimpse into how you like to work and your strengths in relation to the role, complementing what we learn during your interview.
• Offer: Congratulations! If you’re successful, we’ll talk through all the finer details, like salary, your start date, and our background checking process.
