Becton, Dickinson and Company launches BD Liverty TIPS Stent Graft in the united states.

Becton, Dickinson and Company launches BD Liverty TIPS Stent Graft in the united states. Published on 10/28/2026 at 08:36 am EDT S&P Capital IQ Becton, Dickinson and Company announced the U.S. commercial launch of the BD Liverty TIPS Stent Graft, advancing portal hypertension care by giving physicians greater flexibility to tailor treatment to each patient's hemodynamic needs. The next generation transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) system is designed to provide physicians with deployment accuracy and control, and the flexibility to tailor treatment based on individual patient anatomy, disease progression and clinical goals. The product enters the U.S. market with established clinical and physician experience in Europe and is supported by the six-month interim results from the 177 patient, prospective, multi-center ARCH clinical study, the first and only IDE study with small TIPS diameter (6-7 mm) clinical data. TIPS is a minimally invasive procedure used to create a new pathway for blood flow in the liver, helping relieve pressure caused by portal hypertension, a condition that can lead to serious complications such as internal bleeding or fluid buildup in the abdomen. TIPS procedures are used to manage conditions such as variceal bleeding and refractory ascites, but can vary significantly based on patient anatomy, disease progression and treatment goals. The Liverty TIPS Stent Graft is designed to address this variability by enabling a more tailored, patient-specific approach to therapy. For clinicians, key features of the Liverty TIPS Stent Graft include: expandable diameter design (6-10 mm) to address patient-specific hemodynamics; covered stent lengths ranging from 4 to 10 cm?the longest commercially available?to support varied anatomies; fully sheathed, tri-axial delivery system, designed for deployment accuracy, control and ease-of-use; highly visible radiopaque markers and a marker band to aid in visualization and accurate placement under fluoroscopy; and delivery system that allows for sheath-less tracking through the liver parenchyma. With U.S. commercial availability, the Liverty TIPS Stent Graft expands the BD interventional portfolio and reinforces the company's commitment to advancing treatment options for patients with complications of portal hypertension. BD launches Liverty TIPS stent graft in the USA.

BD launches Liverty TIPS stent graft in the USA. 28th October 2026 BD (Becton, Dickinson) has announced the US commercial launch of its BD Liverty transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) stent graft. According to the company, the next-generation TIPS system is designed to give physicians greater flexibility to tailor treatment for patients with portal hypertension. In a recent press release, the company details that the system is intended to offer deployment accuracy and control, and to allow treatment to be tailored to individual patient anatomy, disease progression and clinical goals. The device enters the US market with established clinical and physician experience in Europe. It is supported by six-month interim results from the prospective, multicentre ARCH clinical study, which enrolled 177 patients. BD describes ARCH as the first and only investigational device exemption (IDE) study with clinical data on small TIPS diameters (6-7mm). "The Liverty TIPS stent graft was designed to give physicians more flexibility during TIPS procedures," said Rob Righi, vice president and general manager of the Vascular Platform, Peripheral Intervention at BD. "By offering the longest length TIPs stent graft on the market and tailored shunt diameter sizing, the system helps physicians make real-time treatment decisions for patients with complications of portal hypertension." The stent graft has an expandable diameter of 6-10mm to address patient-specific haemodynamics, and covered stent lengths of 4-10cm, which BD says are the longest commercially available. It uses a fully sheathed, tri-axial delivery system designed for deployment accuracy, control and ease of use. Highly visible radiopaque markers and a marker band aid visualisation and placement under fluoroscopy, and the delivery system allows sheathless tracking through the liver parenchyma. Ziv Haskal, principal investigator of the ARCH trial and professor of radiology and surgery at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, USA said: "I've helped develop a lot of existing TIPS technology. Device innovation is intended to advance every operator's daily expertise. What stands out using the Liverty TIPS stent graft is the unique ease of delivering the device into position and controlling it during deployment. The ability to accommodate the new range of intended TIPS diameters and longer lengths will help physicians best tailor treatment to each patient." With US commercial availability, the Liverty TIPS stent graft expands BD's interventional portfolio and reinforces the company's commitment to advancing treatment options for patients with complications of portal hypertension.

Becton Dickinson's US manufacturing deal meets $3.3B earnings forecast for 2029

Becton Dickinson has announced a major US manufacturing agreement ahead of its fiscal 2026 fourth quarter earnings report on November 5. A larger domestic footprint could support supply resilience and service levels, and help its push into recurring, higher value medtech platforms such as BioPharma Systems and BD COR. Analysts expect earnings to grow while sales fall. Consensus sees revenue declining 1.6% a year over three years, with profit margins rising from 7.3% to 15.6% by about 2029. Earnings are forecast to reach $3.3 billion by around September 2029, up from $1.6 billion today. Forecasts range from $2.4 billion to $4.6 billion. Key risks include product quality, regulatory issues, pressure in China, and slowing demand tied to Alaris remediation.

BD Celebrates 65 Years of Manufacturing, Innovation and Community Partnership in Canaan

BD celebrates 65 years of manufacturing, innovation and community partnership in Canaan. Generations of Connecticut employees have helped ensure the reliable supply of the BD(R) Syringe, an essential medical device clinicians rely on every day in patient care around the world CANAAN, Conn., Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) (NYSE: BDX), a leading global medical technology company, today marked 65 years of manufacturing in Canaan, Conn., the birthplace of the world's first fully sterile, single-use disposable plastic syringe and the largest syringe manufacturing operation in the United States. The site opened in 1961 with eight employees in a 25,000-square-foot building producing about 10 million syringes a year. The invention of the BD(R) Syringe helped enable the shift away from reusable glass syringes, reducing the risk of patient-to-patient disease transmission. Today, more than 500 employees work at the 385,000-square-foot facility, producing more than 2 billion syringes each year, supporting care from routine vaccinations to critical procedures. Over six decades, the Canaan team has supported major public health efforts, including smallpox eradication, H1N1 vaccination programs and the COVID-19 response. "The BD(R) Syringe was invented here in Canaan as a breakthrough in patient safety and has become an essential part of care around the world, touching 80 patients every second," said Eric Borin, worldwide president, Medication Delivery Solutions at BD. "For 65 years, generations of employees have continued to improve how we manufacture while delivering the quality and precision clinicians count on. This milestone is a testament to their dedication and the difference their work makes for patients every day." BD has invested more than $34 million in the Canaan site over the past five years to expand production capacity, modernize operations and support future growth. This includes three new syringe manufacturing lines and equipment upgrades that strengthen supply assurance. These investments reflect BD's commitment to U.S. manufacturing and to helping healthcare systems maintain reliable access to high-quality medical technologies. "Connecticut has a proud history of turning innovation into products that improve people's lives, and BD's Canaan facility is a powerful example," said Governor Ned Lamont. "For 65 years, this site has supported good jobs, strengthened our manufacturing economy and produced medical devices used in patient care around the world. BD's continued investment in Canaan demonstrates the strength of Connecticut's workforce and the important role our state plays in manufacturing essential healthcare products." A Connecticut legacy with global reach BD leaders, elected officials, employees and community partners gathered at the Canaan facility to celebrate its 65-year history and contributions to healthcare, manufacturing and the regional economy. That legacy is reflected in the generations of employees who have built careers at the site. More than 50 have at least 25 years of service, including 10 who have been with BD for 40 years or more. "BD has been an important part of northwestern Connecticut for 65 years, providing local jobs while manufacturing a product that supports patient care around the world," said State Representative Maria Horn and State Senator Stephen Harding in a joint statement. "The Canaan facility shows how advanced manufacturing can create meaningful opportunities in our communities while making a difference far beyond our state. We congratulate the employees who have made this milestone possible and welcome BD's continued investment in the region." As part of the celebration, BD will announce a $10,000 grant to the Community Health & Wellness Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides accessible, high-quality healthcare to residents of northwestern Connecticut. The grant brings BD's support since 2024 to $90,000 helping fund nutrition programs, emergency assistance and transportation for patients in need. The partnership reflects BD's longstanding commitment to strengthening the communities where employees live and work. About BD BD is one of the world's largest pure-play medical technology companies with a Purpose of advancing the world of health(TM) by driving innovation across medical essentials, connected care, biopharma systems and interventional.
