October 22, 2026 at 8:27 a.m. Convatec honored as Non-Acute Supplier of the Year and recipient of Medical and Surgical Excellence Award BOSTON - Convatec, a leading medical products and technologies company focused on solutions for the management of chronic conditions, announced it has been recognized by Vizient(R), the largest provider-driven healthcare performance improvement company in the United States, with two distinguished supplier awards, including 2026 Non-Acute Supplier of the Year and 2026 Medical and Surgical Excellence Award. The awards were presented at the Vizient(R) Connections Summit 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and recognize suppliers that demonstrate exceptional performance, customer commitment, innovation, and value creation for healthcare providers across the United States. These awards recognise the clinical value, service excellence and trusted relationship Convatec delivers to healthcare providers across acute and non-acute care settings. The recognition was driven by Convatec's performance in Advanced Wound Care, Ostomy Care and Bowel Management, where the company continues to deliver meaningful value to healthcare providers through innovative solutions, trusted support, and a focus on improving patient outcomes. Gary Holder, Vice President, Corporate Accounts, Convatec, said: "Receiving both the Non-Acute Supplier of the Year and Medical and Surgical Excellence Awards is a tremendous honor and reflects the strength of our relationship with Vizient and its member organizations. Vizient's diverse client base includes academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute healthcare providers and represents more than $156 billion in annual purchasing volume. Vizient's supplier recognition program evaluates organizations based on customer service, innovation, operational excellence, and their ability to support member healthcare systems in achieving improved performance. Convatec earned these honors in competition with several leading healthcare companies, demonstrating the company's growing impact and trusted position within the healthcare ecosystem. Simrit Sandhu, president, spend management, Vizient, said: "Congratulations to Convatec on receiving the 2026 Non-Acute Supplier of the Year and Medical and Surgical Excellence Awards. This recognition reflects the company's commitment to supporting Vizient clients as they work to optimize performance, manage costs and strengthen the healthcare supply chain." After years-long turnaround, Convatec's new CEO plans R&D push.

After years-long turnaround, Convatec's new CEO plans R&D push. Jonny Mason, who became CEO of the medtech firm a year ago following the death of Karim Bitar, said Convatec's pace of launching new devices has accelerated for 2026 and 2027. Published Oct. 5, 2026 As Convatec completes a multiyear effort to turn around the business, new CEO Jonny Mason plans to invest in research and development for future growth. The London-based medtech firm, which specializes in infusion care, wound care, ostomy care and continence, announced plans last year to expand its Boston-based R&D facility by 50%, and open a new facility in Manchester, England. Former CEO Karim Bitar joined Convatec in 2019 to develop a turnaround strategy for the company, which had struggled with profit warnings and a falling share price since it started trading on the London Stock Exchange. That plan involved focusing on Convatec's strengths, doubling its R&D investment and upping capital spending to rebuild its factories. Unfortunately, Bitar died suddenly last October while on medical leave. Mason, who joined Convatec in 2022 as CFO, has taken on Bitar's legacy after being named CEO in October. The turnaround is complete, Mason said, and Convatec is now aiming for sales growth of 6% to 8% next year, supported by a series of new product launches in each of its categories. MedTech Dive spoke with Mason about what's next for the company and its investment plans. Editor's note: This interview has been edited for length and clarity. MEDTECH DIVE: What are your top priorities as CEO? Is it a continuation of your work with Karim? Has anything changed? JONNY MASON: Something has changed, which is that we've increased our ambition. Karim very successfully took us through the turnaround strategy, and we acknowledged that the turnaround was complete last year. So it was time to step up a level. What Convatec is trying to do now is more than it's ever done before. We are launching more products in 2026 than we've ever done before. We're investing more capital. We're increasing capacity in our factories. So all of that requires the whole Convatec organization to execute more effectively, and to live and breathe a culture of purpose and performance. What segments do you see the most growth in for Convatec? All four of our categories are going to grow faster next year than they did this year because we're launching new products in all of those categories. But if you were to push me, infusion care is where our business is growing fastest, and that's because pump therapy is expanding in its treatment of patients, both in diabetes and also in Parkinson's disease. We're the world leader in the manufacture of infusion sets. The use of pump therapy as opposed to pills or multiple daily injections is increasing quickly around the world. So that piece of our business, we expect that to grow in double digits from next year onwards. What are some new devices to watch for? In [the infusion care] space, the most exciting thing is Parkinson's disease at the moment. AbbVie launched their Parkinson's therapy a couple of years ago, and that's growing really fast. And we are the exclusive supplier of infusion sets to them. But coming now are two other suppliers of Parkinson's disease therapies: Supernus and Mitsubishi Tanabe. We will be launching with them the infusion sets to support their Parkinson's therapy. Beyond that in infusion care, in a few years' time, we're working on higher volume and higher viscosity infusion sets, which will enable things like chemotherapy and/or pain relief to be treated with pump therapy. We launched a new product only yesterday [September 28] in the U.S. market, and this was an intermittent catheter called Cure Aqua. It's made of a hydrophilic polymer, which is friction free with just the application of water, and it's ready to use and it's in the value end of the market. So this is a product which is going to make life much better for a number of catheter users in the U.S. We launched eight new products between 2022 and 2025. And then in 2026 and 2027, we're doing eight more. So the pace of launch is accelerating. At the start of the year, the FDA had raised concerns with infusion sets made by subsidiary Unomedical in a warning letter. Do you have any updates on that? We are making good progress. We are in a very constructive dialog with the FDA. We understand exactly what their observations are. The observations did not relate to product quality nor to patient safety, and therefore they have not impacted our sales or our production at all. What they observed was that they said we weren't managing our complaints process well enough, and we accept that entirely. We're working with them to change it. They said the same thing, by the way, to various other operators within the diabetes sector. We're working constructively with them, making good progress. The nature of these things is that they take time, so we would like to think that we can get through all of this by the end of 2027.

Diabetic Foot Ulcer Treatment Market to grow at a CAGR of 7.01% from 2026 to 2034; rising incidence of DFUs is propelling Market Growth.

Diabetic Foot Ulcer Treatment Market to grow at a CAGR of 7.01% from 2026 to 2034; rising incidence of DFUs is propelling Market Growth. September 04, 2026 | Healthcare The global diabetic foot ulcer treatment market size was valued at USD 7.14 billion in 2025. The market is expected to grow from USD 7.53 billion in 2026 to USD 12.46 billion by 2034, exhibiting a CAGR of 6.5% during the forecast period. Fortune Business Insights(TM) presents this information in its report titled "Diabetic Foot Ulcer Treatment Market Size, Share & Industry Analysis, By Ulcer Type (Neuropathic Ulcers, Ischemic Ulcers, and Neuro-Ischemic Ulcers), By Product (Wound-Care Dressings [Antimicrobial Dressings, Foam Dressings, and Hydrogel Dressings], Wound-Care Devices [Negative Pressure Wound Therapy, Ultrasound Therapy, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy], and Active Therapies [Skin Grafts & Substitutes and Growth Factors]), By Severity (Mild, Moderate, and Severe), By End User (Hospitals, Clinics, Ambulatory Surgical Centers, Homecare Settings, and Others), and Regional Forecast, 2026-2034". Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFUs) are chronic wounds that affect individuals with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. They represent a serious complication of diabetes and are generally characterized by wounds on the feet that heal slowly or fail to heal completely. Without timely and effective treatment, DFUs may progress to severe infections and, in advanced cases, result in lower-limb amputation. DFU care encompasses a broad spectrum of treatment products and therapies designed to promote wound healing, prevent infection, and reduce ulcer-related complications. These include advanced wound dressings such as antimicrobial & hydrogel dressings and devices such as negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), and active therapies such as skin graft substitutes. Offloading devices are also widely used to minimize pressure on affected areas and support healing. The rising prevalence of DFUs among the growing diabetic population is expected to increase demand for these treatment solutions, thereby supporting market expansion. Convatec Announced Completion of a Significant Multi-year Expansion at Its Rhymney Production Unit In July 2026, Convatec, a renowned medical product and technology company specializing in solutions for the management of chronic conditions, announced the successful completion of a multi-year expansion project at its manufacturing facility in Rhymney, South Wales. The company invested more than USD 27.1 million in the expansion, aimed at strengthening the site's manufacturing capabilities and supporting the growing demand for advanced healthcare products. Growing Prevalence of Diabetes Fosters Market Growth The mounting diabetes burden globally is a primary factor driving the increasing incidence of diabetic foot ulcers, one of the most serious complications associated with the disease. The expanding geriatric population, sedentary lifestyles, dietary changes, and rising obesity rates are contributing to the global diabetes burden. Moreover, clinical evidence indicates that individuals with diabetes are substantially more likely to develop foot ulcers than non-diabetic individuals, further intensifying the need for effective treatment options. For instance, an article published in the International Wound Journal in 2023 reported that diabetic foot ulcers have a global prevalence of approximately 6.3% based on available studies assessing their global epidemiology. Technological innovations in diabetic foot ulcer treatment management are encouraging the development and uptake of smart wound dressings. Leading companies are increasing their investments in R&D to introduce innovative products with enhanced monitoring and healing capabilities, thereby supporting the global diabetic foot ulcer treatment market growth. On the other hand, the low rates of wound diagnosis and treatment across emerging countries are impeding diabetic foot ulcer treatment demand. Major Players Emphasize Product Portfolio Expansion to Support Their Dominance Leading diabetic foot ulcer treatment companies are maintaining their market dominance through broad product portfolios, strategic acquisitions, collaborations, and other inorganic growth initiatives implemented across various regions. Smith+Nephew and Solventum hold prominent positions in the market, driven by their extensive offerings and strong global footprint. In addition, the rising emphasis on R&D is encouraging companies to launch technologically advanced and differentiated wound care products, thereby strengthening their market presence. * In April 2024, Smith+Nephew introduced its RENASYS EDGE Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) System in the U.S., providing a patient-focused option for managing chronic wounds. List of Key Players Mentioned in the Report * Coloplast A/S (Denmark) * Smith+Nephew (U.K.) * Solventum (U.S.) * Convatec Inc. (U.K.) * Integra LifeSciences (U.S.) * Braun SE (Germany) * Cardinal Health (U.S.) * Mölnlycke Health Care AB (Sweden) * Essity Aktiebolag (publ). (Sweden) * MIMEDX Group, Inc. (U.S.) Key Industry Development * April 2024: Smith+Nephew reported that the U.K. National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) reviewed its PICO Single Use Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System (sNPWT). NICE concluded that the system delivers improved clinical outcomes compared with standard dressings in decreasing the risk of surgical site infections. Further Report Findings * North America maintained its position as the leading regional market, reaching USD 2.65 billion in 2024 and increasing to USD 2.78 billion in 2025. The widespread adoption of advanced wound-care products, well-developed hospital infrastructure, and rising healthcare expenditure supports the region's strong market position. * Europe is predicted to expand at a CAGR of 6.2% over the forecast period, representing the second-fastest growth among regions, and is projected to reach USD 2.05 billion in 2026. Increasing diabetic population, combined with the region's advanced healthcare infrastructure, is anticipated to accelerate market expansion. * Based on ulcer type, neuro-ischemic ulcers accounted for the largest diabetic foot ulcer treatment market share in 2025. The rising incidence of neuro-ischemic ulcers among diabetic patients is increasing the need for specialized treatment solutions. Furthermore, the introduction of innovative wound-care products, skin substitutes, and NPWT technologies by prominent companies is likely to create additional growth opportunities for this segment. * By product, wound-care dressings led the market in 2025 due to their effectiveness and versatility in managing DFUs. Leading producers are intensifying R&D efforts to develop more advanced dressing technologies, providing further momentum to the segment.
