About the job

Requirements
  • Experience of working with young people.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding concerns in relation to children and young people.
  • Excellent understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.
  • Accomplished written and verbal communication skills and a high degree of personal information technology competency.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice around young people's substance misuse treatment services and relevant best-practice guidance.
  • Commitment to multi-agency working and establishing partnerships with other professionals to achieve good outcomes for the service user group.
  • Excellent team-working and interpersonal skills, maintaining a highly cooperative approach to supporting colleagues in delivering service objectives.
  • Applicants must already have the right to work in the United Kingdom at the time of application.
  • The post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Responsibilities
  • Engage young people in interventions using a young-person-centred approach to reduce risk, increase resilience, and support safe and healthy lives.
  • Support young people from entry into the service through their support journey.
  • Engage young people who use substances and provide advice, support, and structured interventions for their health and wellbeing needs.
  • Provide screening, assessment, psychosocial interventions, integrated care planning, post-treatment support, and transfer of care.
  • Identify and respond effectively to potential safeguarding issues.
  • Reduce drug- and alcohol-related harm among young people and the wider community.
  • Promote carer, service-user, and community involvement.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments and develop individual care plans identifying how each goal supports progress in addressing substance use and related outcomes.
  • Support positive holistic health and wellbeing outcomes for young people, enabling safer and healthier lives.
  • Provide advocacy for young people by participating in relevant multi-agency meetings, including Child Protection meetings and Complex Case Review panels.
  • Network and attend community events.
  • Develop and deliver workshops and training for young people, professionals, parents, carers, and other associated people.
