Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required.
  • A Professional Engineer license is preferred, or the ability to become licensed within 6-12 months is required.
  • Five to fifteen years of experience working as a Civil Engineer in water resources and stormwater management is required.
  • Strong project management skills and experience are required.
  • Construction management experience is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • The candidate must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • The candidate must have a flexible working style and be willing to occasionally modify personal schedules to meet deadlines or client needs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required, or the ability to obtain one.
  • The candidate must be able to sit and operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
  • The candidate must be able to work outdoors during construction season.
  • The candidate may need to stand and walk for prolonged periods during construction observation and surveying.
  • The candidate must work scheduled and required hours.
  • The candidate must be able to lift objects or containers weighing 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff on water resource projects from planning through design and construction.
  • Independently manage projects and collaboratively contribute to the design and development of project plans and specifications.
  • Work with and mentor project team members.
  • Provide professional engineering services, including studies, planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction observation, and project management.
  • Communicate with clients, supervisors, and project team members by providing updates and progress during all project phases.
  • Attend company, project, and client meetings.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals and participate in interviews to secure work for the firm.
  • Think independently and make rational judgment calls.
  • Provide direction and work with engineering technicians and other team members to develop project plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with other engineering departments on complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Follow the company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
  • Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner with attention to detail.
  • Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
  • Travel and stay out of town when required, and work overtime during the construction season when necessary.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in watershed modeling, stormwater collection system design, pump station design, equipment sizing and selection, civil design drawings, and cost opinions.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other computer-aided civil design software.
