Requirements
  • The candidate must have at least 7 years of experience as a UXO safety officer, including at least 3 years in a safety role.
  • The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The candidate must hold UXO Technician III or UXO Technician IV certification and a Safety Officer Certification.
  • The candidate must have extensive knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to UXO operations.
  • The candidate must have experience conducting safety audits, training, and incident investigations.
  • The candidate must be familiar with Department of Defense safety standards, particularly DDESB Technical Paper 18.
  • The candidate must demonstrate safety protocol enforcement, training delivery, hazard identification, and a strong understanding of safety management principles.
  • The candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe software.
  • The candidate must be a United States citizen.
  • The candidate must be able to satisfy applicable background-check and drug-testing requirements when required for the position.
Responsibilities
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols across all UXO operations to ensure compliance with Department of Defense and project-specific safety standards.
  • Conduct safety briefings, training sessions, and risk assessments for UXO personnel.
  • Monitor on-site activities to identify and mitigate safety hazards related to UXO operations.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain and update safety documentation, including risk assessments, safety plans, and incident reports.
  • Perform the role in accordance with DDESB Technical Paper 18.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including Technical Bulletin TB 700-2 when transporting munitions and explosives of concern.
  • Obtain or support the acquisition of permits and licenses necessary to conduct the contracted work.
  • Prepare thorough, accurate, and appropriately documented work products that comply with established criteria and meet project milestones and delivery schedules.
Desired Qualifications
  • Specialized training in occupational safety or related fields is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, data analytics tools, and Visio is preferred.
