Mapbox powers dispatch platform used by 23,000 taxis across Japan

Mapbox has been selected by DennoKotsu, a provider of taxi dispatch software in Japan, to modernize the mapping platform for its cloud-based dispatch system used by approximately 600 taxi operators and 23,000 vehicles across all 47 prefectures. The integration aims to improve driver efficiency and safety by providing clearer map displays and a more intuitive interface on in-vehicle tablets. Drivers use these tablets to receive ride requests, navigate to passengers and manage trips whilst operating in dynamic conditions shaped by fluctuating demand and congestion. Mapbox's flexible platform will allow DennoKotsu to continuously refine the driver experience based on operator feedback. Existing customers will transition to the updated system in phases.

Mapbox launches doorway-level navigation data for 100M US addresses to cut delivery failures

Mapbox has launched a public preview of doorway-level entrance data that guides drivers to within five metres of a specific building entrance for over 100 million US addresses. The technology addresses the "final metres" problem in delivery and logistics, where nearly 70% of failed deliveries in the last 100 metres occur within the final 10 metres. The new capability, available through Mapbox's Geocoding API, enables navigation to precise building entrances rather than generic address pins. McKinsey research indicates that inefficient drop-off locations account for up to 19% of logistics costs due to support requests, driver delays and redeliveries. Early customer dlivrd reported 7% faster delivery times and 25% quicker support resolution. The entrance data works with Mapbox's existing navigation and routing services to improve arrival accuracy for delivery, logistics and ride-hailing applications.
