Microsoft Science President Peter Lee is stepping down from the company, he announced on Wednesday. Lee, a veteran who led Microsoft's internal research unit for several years, is the latest senior executive to depart this year. The announcement follows other high-profile exits in 2025, including Office and Windows boss Rajesh Jha and Xbox CEO. Lee's departure marks a continuation of significant leadership changes at the technology giant, though no details about his future plans or replacement have been disclosed.
Patriot Consulting has launched a free cost evaluation service for Microsoft's new Integrated Security Operations Center (ISOC), aimed at Microsoft 365 E5 and E7 customers. ISOC integrates SIEM capabilities into Microsoft Defender, offering 90 days of data retention from 15 November 2026 and a $2.40 per GB ingestion rate for non-Microsoft data starting 1 October 2026. The evaluation compares organisations' current licensing, log volumes and tiering against ISOC's pricing to provide tenant-specific recommendations. Patriot guarantees quotes within 24 hours and may leverage Microsoft funding to offset consulting fees. Patriot also offers MXDR365, a 24x7 managed detection and response service featuring seven proprietary agents and automated playbooks for threat intelligence, hunting, log analysis and identity protection. The service works alongside ISOC's unified signals and context platform.
Oppenheimer analysts say AI in software has moved beyond experimentation, with companies now required to demonstrate measurable returns on investment. AI is becoming a recurring operating expense, with chief financial officers evaluating investments alongside labour costs. The firm says system-of-record vendors and businesses with seat-plus-consumption pricing models are best positioned to benefit. These models offer protection against disruption and the clearest path to AI-driven growth. Oppenheimer's top picks include Microsoft Corporation, citing accelerating platform demand and over $1 billion in AI-related revenue. ServiceNow is highlighted for its exposure to automation and security tailwinds, also exceeding $1 billion in AI revenue. Braze is noted as a system-of-record for customer engagement with durable competitive advantages.
IntuigenceAI has launched its Sovereign Industrial AI platform on Microsoft Fabric's workload hub. The system compiles a plant's scattered engineering records into a single knowledge graph in under 48 hours, a process that typically takes the industry months. It then deploys synthetic engineers called Intuigents to answer questions and execute engineering work. The platform runs within customers' own cloud environments, with data remaining in their Microsoft Fabric tenant. It processes engineering drawings, process flow diagrams, and other technical documents whilst respecting existing access permissions through Microsoft Entra ID. Founded by Moe Tanabian, former Global Vice President of Industrial Software at Microsoft, IntuigenceAI is backed by Eric Schmidt's venture firm and has been operating in production plants since 2024. The company will co-host an Industrial AI Summit with Microsoft in Houston on 4 November.
TomTom is expanding its collaboration with Microsoft by bringing its location intelligence to AI agents built on Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Foundry through Microsoft's IQ Sharing preview. The integration enables Azure and Fabric customers to build AI products that understand real-world context by combining TomTom's location data with their own data in OneLake. TomTom's location intelligence is built on Overture and open standards, supporting interoperability with compatible open datasets. This allows AI agents to understand what places represent, how roads, regulations and risks relate to each other, and how conditions change over time. The location intelligence is now available on Microsoft Marketplace and is Azure MACC eligible. TomTom will showcase the preview at FabCon Europe 2026 in Barcelona.
