Requirements
  • A doctorate in a chemistry discipline or related field, earned by the end of the first academic year.
  • Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
  • Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.
  • Candidates must complete pre-employment screening, including a criminal background check, work authorization verification, and education verification.
Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, if applicable, and advise students.
  • Prepare for and hold classes, maintain currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluate student work, assess student outcomes, provide regular and substantive feedback, maintain appropriate records, and hold office hours.
  • Maintain an active, ongoing program of scholarship appropriate to the discipline.
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and/or professional organizations.
  • Answer other duties assigned by the department chair or dean.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience and the ability to teach General Chemistry and Physical Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses.
  • A research plan in experimental physical chemistry appropriate for a Primarily Undergraduate Institution and complementary to the needs of the department.
  • A demonstrated record of, or strong potential for, publication in peer-reviewed academic journals.
