Requirements
  • At least two years of recruitment experience.
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to provincial guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Confer with management to identify personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and skills.
  • Accept, review, and enter applications received through resumes, voicemail, and referrals into the Applicant Tracking System recruiting database, and pre-screen qualified candidates against the job description and minimum hiring criteria, including English and/or French language clarity, work history, education, training, job skills, and salary.
  • Create and maintain the internal company recruitment tracker.
  • Maintain current knowledge of pay equity, human rights, and employment standards guidelines and laws.
  • Review and evaluate applicant qualifications or eligibility for specified licensing according to established guidelines and designated licensing codes.
  • Collect required background check authorization forms to conduct reference and background checks on applicants.
  • Recruit applicants for open positions by making public presentations about the organization and job opportunities and coordinating staff participation, setup, and work at job fairs.
  • Lead the creation of a recruiting and interviewing plan for each open position.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and implementation, and develop a pool of qualified candidates in advance of need.
  • Post openings in newspaper advertisements, with professional organizations, and in other appropriate venues.
  • Use social and professional networking sites to identify and source candidates.
  • Maintain regular contact with potential future candidates.
  • Provide potential applicants with information about the company, facilities, job opportunities, and realistic job previews as necessary.
  • Conduct pre-screening interviews.
  • Schedule and conduct competency-based interviews and refer candidates for additional interviews with others in the organization when required by management.
  • Offer and coordinate second interviews with program managers when required.
  • Advise managers and employees on staffing policies and procedures.
  • Provide selected candidates with conditional verbal and written offers of employment, confirm employment, and schedule orientation.
  • Coordinate internal recruitment processes, including job postings, transfers, and promotions of selected employees, ensuring that applicable hiring standards are met.
  • Maintain employee records, audit employee files, and send correspondence to managers, leadership, and employees about upcoming expiry dates or deficiencies, including completing terminated files.
