Requirements
- Completion of an Advanced Apprenticeship, HNC, or higher qualification in a mechanical, electrical, or related discipline.
- Recognized Electrical Engineering or Maintenance qualifications.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of hydraulics and/or pneumatics.
- Evidence of the right to work in the United Kingdom, as the company cannot sponsor international workers for this role.
Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing maintenance within the Plant Engineering department by identifying issues, analysing malfunctioning equipment and systems, recommending corrective action, making approved repairs or modifications under the direction of Plant Engineers or the Plant Engineering Manager, and monitoring solutions for effectiveness.
- Diagnose faults on programmable logic controller-controlled machinery.
- Assist with commissioning new machinery, automation, and production equipment.
- Supervise shift Technicians and apprentices assigned to the shift.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production machinery and associated equipment.
- Complete electrical inspections, testing, and routine maintenance in accordance with company procedures.
- Support the Plant Engineering Manager in implementing and enforcing procedures to ensure deadlines are met in accordance with agreed practices.
- Work with the Plant Engineering Manager and Engineers to develop colleagues to agreed company standards in working practices and processes.
- Carry out periodic preventive maintenance on plant machinery and equipment.
- Regularly check instrumentation quality to meet production, safety, and legal requirements.
- Assist with project work as required.
- Liaise with Manufacturing Engineers or Managers to ensure departmental needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide technical advice in troubleshooting and problem-solving situations and technical support on projects as required.
- Support apprentices with advice and guidance where appropriate.
Desired Qualifications
- The IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671 17th edition is advantageous.
- Experience in a general machining workshop, including turning, milling, and fitting of manual tools, is advantageous.
