About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • At least 10 years of hands-on professional back-end and distributed-systems development experience.
  • Expert command of C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core for high-throughput, production-critical services.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a platform-level or externally consumed API, including design, versioning, documentation, and consumer support.
  • A track record of building low-latency, high-volume, highly available distributed systems.
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills, design-pattern experience, and grounding in data structures, algorithms, and concurrency.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership across teams.
  • Experience supporting customers and conducting requirements analysis.
  • Advanced C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core experience, including async/await, concurrency and threading models, and memory- and garbage-collection-aware performance work.
  • Experience with microservices architecture, service decomposition, and event-driven design.
  • Proficiency building RESTful APIs, gRPC services, WebSockets, and other real-time communication methods.
  • Expertise in throughput optimization, serialization such as MessagePack and Protobuf, and compression methods.
  • Experience with message brokers and streaming platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Redis.
  • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, profiling, and performance optimization.
  • Strong SQL skills, including writing and tuning complex queries against production workloads.
  • Contract-first API design using OpenAPI/Swagger and Protobuf IDL, with schema evolution and versioning practices.
  • Command of API gateway concerns, including routing, throttling and rate limiting, quotas, idempotency, pagination, and consistent error models.
  • Experience publishing and maintaining developer-facing API documentation and client SDKs.
  • Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, TLS, HTTP/2, load balancing, and connection management for long-lived streaming sessions.
  • Expertise implementing authentication and authorization using OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, and related security standards.
  • Secure API practices including input validation, secrets management, and least-privilege access.
  • Experience with security code scanning and remediating identified vulnerabilities.
  • Proficiency using AI coding assistants such as Claude for code generation, test creation, code review, and refactoring.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Comfort working with Windows and Linux operating systems.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of Silexx back-end services in C#/.NET for order and execution workflows, market data, analytics, and risk.
  • Own the API platform end to end by defining REST, gRPC, and real-time streaming contracts, establishing versioning and deprecation policies, and maintaining backward compatibility for internal teams and external clients.
  • Build and scale real-time data distribution, including market-data fan-out, order and execution event streams, and low-latency messaging, to meet latency and throughput targets.
  • Define the service topology by decomposing large components into bounded microservices, setting service boundaries, and establishing inter-service communication standards.
  • Implement secure server communications and authentication and authorization using RESTful and streaming protocols, OpenID Connect, and OAuth 2.0.
  • Drive observability, capacity planning, and performance profiling for systems that must remain available during market hours, and maintain a highly available production platform.
  • Partner with front-end, WPF desktop (Silexx OEMS), and client-integration teams to ensure APIs are practical for consumers; support customers with integration, requirements analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Establish back-end engineering standards for automated unit, integration, and contract testing, CI/CD release gates, code review, and API documentation.
  • Provide architectural direction for growth into new asset classes, products, regions, and models, and distill complex requirements into manageable features and tasks.
  • Mentor engineers across teams, help managers onboard and train new associates, and participate in interviews and assessments.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex production problems across service, data, and network layers.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with financial-industry systems, real-time trading, order-routing workflows, market-data distribution, or equity, option, and futures trading platforms.
  • Familiarity with the FIX protocol and OEMS or venue integrations.
  • Observability and SRE practice, including OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog, and working with SLOs and error budgets.
  • Experience with containerization such as Docker/Kubernetes and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL.
  • Working knowledge of WPF desktop clients sufficient to build APIs against, integrate with, and test them, such as the Silexx OEMS.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Git, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, JetBrains Suite, and Wireshark.

Cboe adds $550M to share buyback capacity and keeps $0.86 quarterly dividend

Cboe Global Markets has declared a fourth quarter 2026 cash dividend of $0.86 per share, payable on December 15 to investors of record on November 30. Its board also approved an extra $550 million of share repurchase capacity, with no set expiry. The exchange operator reported second quarter net revenue of $731.6 million. The buyback gives it flexibility over the timing and method of repurchases. Cboe earns its money from options, futures and FX trading, along with market data and access fees. It posted a 24.1% return on equity, though forecasts point to 4.1% annual earnings growth and declining revenue. Community fair value estimates range from $143 to $328 per share.

Cboe shares jump 12.1% as S&P 500 options licence extended to 2051 and KPI binaries planned

Cboe Global Markets extended its exclusive licence for S&P 500 Index options with S&P Dow Jones Indices through 2051. The 25-year renewal reduces the risk of losing its flagship index options business. Cboe also plans to launch binary contracts tied to company-specific key performance indicators. They would initially cover 23 major US-listed stocks and be cleared through Cboe Clear U.S., subject to regulatory approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Cboe shares are up 12.1% after the announcements. The KPI contracts look incremental rather than a near-term earnings driver. Competition and fee pressure remain risks to Cboe's core economics.
