About the job
- A minimum bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Geologist Modelling is required.
- POP certification is required.
- Ability to build geological models is required.
- Knowledge of coal geology and coal geological modelling is required.
- Experience using KCMI 2017 or SNI 5015:2019 is required.
- Experience using Minescape and ArcGIS software is required.
- Compile and validate exploration data provided by Wellsite Geologists.
- Develop and update geological models quarterly using drilling, mapping, and sampling data.
- Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations between geological models and actual mined data.
- Prepare internal exploration progress reports for management.
- Provide external reporting, including quarterly production reports and RKAB documentation.
- Monitor geological conditions within the pit, including seam-thickness anomalies, faults such as washouts, and mined-out zones.
- Conduct routine in-pit mapping, including measuring seam thickness, strike and dip, and mapping faults when present; coordinate with surveyors or use a total station for data collection.
- Inspect exposed coal or nickel seams to confirm mine-out status and geological consistency.
- Monitor discrepancies between actual coal or nickel seam conditions and geological models, particularly thickness variance, coal quality, dip and strike, and faults.
