- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A training school background plus 3 to 5 years of experience in a prototype machine shop using manual machines, or 5 to 10 years of experience in a prototype machine shop, is required.
- Experience setting up and operating a 3- to 5-axis vertical machining center is required.
- Experience with Mastercam, SolidCAM, or similar computer-aided manufacturing software is required.
- Experience with Southwestern’s TRAK mills and lathes is required.
- Working knowledge of controls and instrumentation, conceptual skills, functional and technical skills, attention to detail, good verbal communication skills, and the ability to use good judgment is required.
- A strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and the ability to read shop prints are required.
- The ability to interact and communicate with engineers and scientists is required.
- Frequent computer use involving repetitive keyboard and mouse activity and manual dexterity is required.
- The ability to operate hand and power tools for long periods is required.
- The ability to regularly lift 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds is required.
- Operate machinery and equipment in a safe manner.
- Perform housekeeping tasks as necessary to maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Notify supervisory personnel if a nonconforming condition is disclosed.
- Perform tool proofing of first-run jobs and give feedback to programming to ensure run efficiency and accuracy.
- Set controls for feed, speed, and depth of cut without supervision.
- Understand and apply optimal workholding techniques.
- Work with other operators as required to ensure optimum setup.
- Analyze and solve manufacturing problems with a high level of skill.
- Follow safety guidelines and procedures established by the company.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Identify nonconforming parts using precision measuring instruments.
- Set tooling and apply offsets.
- Use tooling and material data to calculate surface footage to machine components.
Nusano produces and supplies high-purity, cGMP-grade radioisotopes for medical, industrial, and commercial use. It operates a proprietary production platform that combines a high-current ion source with a linear accelerator to create more than 40 different radioisotopes, capable of producing up to 12 isotopes simultaneously. The system can switch between isotopes in minutes, enabling versatile supply for drugmakers, hospitals, clinics, and industrial partners. This differs from traditional reactor-based methods by offering rapid isotope changes, high flexibility, and scalable production, backed by supply agreements and beam-time reservations. Nusano aims to commercialize its initial products, lutetium-177 n.c.a. and actinium-225, starting in 2025, and to become a reliable, diversified isotope supplier for the healthcare and industrial sectors.
