- The role requires following the BorgWarner Environmental Health and Safety Program, including safety rules, procedures, practices, training, and safe equipment use, including personal protective equipment; unsafe situations or incidents must be corrected or reported promptly.
Responsibilities
- Define system-level software technical requirements and specifications for products that meet internal and customer needs.
- Analyze and define system requirements.
- Support the System Development Lead and System Architect.
- Design and develop software for owned features.
- Partner with the Systems Engineer and Applications Engineer to lead multidisciplinary and cross-departmental software project teams within the required scope, budget, and schedule.
- Interface with Systems Engineering to ensure software requirements are appropriately documented and analyzed before software design and implementation.
- Provide analyses to help identify product architecture that meets technical requirements.
- Provide technical leadership within engineering to define subsystem and component software specifications and requirements for internal and external suppliers, ensuring system-level technical requirements are met.
- Lead design reviews to ensure robust integration of subsystem and component software requirements into the overall system architecture.
- Work with System Lead Engineers to develop qualification plans that verify products, subsystems, and components comply with requirements.
- Identify test cases to ensure software adheres to requirements.
- Work with Certification to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Conduct system-level and unit-level verification and validation testing.
- Communicate, coordinate, and consult with engineering departments, suppliers, and customers.
Desired Qualifications
- A Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, with at least seven years of design and development experience, is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to coordinate testing are preferred.
- Understanding challenges of applying electronic components to harsh applications, principal failure modes, mitigation methods, and validation methods is preferred.
- Functional safety experience is preferred.
- Cybersecurity experience is preferred.
- Experience with controls simulation, motors, and powertrain management software is preferred.
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment, including oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and multimeters, and a basic understanding of electrical safety are preferred.
