About the job
- Candidates must have 2–5 years of dedicated, direct professional experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems Fire Protection Engineering.
- Candidates whose background is primarily or solely traditional commercial building fire sprinkler or suppression system design are excluded.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, or direct testing or certification exposure to, UL 9540, UL 9540A, and UL 1973 protocols is required.
- Practical application of NFPA Standards 855, 68, 69, 70, 72, 110, and 111 is required.
- Experience drafting fire compliance documentation and engineering briefs, and running computational fluid dynamics fire or plume modeling simulations, is required.
- Candidates must hold a minimum undergraduate or master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent technical field with verified engineering experience.
- The role requires independent execution, personal ownership, and collaboration.
- The role requires public presentation and relationship-building skills, cross-functional alignment experience, and the ability to communicate complex hazards to non-technical audiences.
- Interpret local and international fire code regulations with multidisciplinary stakeholders and convert them into actionable technical product requirements or permitting solutions.
- Design, implement, and maintain code compliance matrices to extract and track regulatory criteria across deployment areas.
- Identify regulatory compliance gaps or local jurisdictional variances and develop technical workarounds and engineering solutions.
- Support corporate fire safety initiatives by defining system modeling, configuration, and full-scale testing for deflagration and fire propagation risks.
- Synthesize test data and compliance profiles into dashboards and executive reports using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Develop, update, and conduct training for internal teams, client representatives, and regional fire departments on emergency and first-responder protocols during thermal events.
- Participate in technical issue resolution, streamline communications to identify root causes, and finalize systemic engineering adjustments.
- Monitor changes in global codes, codes-committee rulings, and energy storage safety benchmarks to advance safety across regional product deployments.
