RAISE US, Raimondo's AI workforce group, raises over $200M in new corporate backing

RAISE US, a group formed to help workers adapt to artificial intelligence (AI), has won new corporate backing. Its funding total has risen by more than $200 million since its June launch, though it is not disclosing specific donations. Former Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and former Indiana governor Eric Holcomb launched the group with a goal of $1 billion in multiyear commitments. Raimondo said the money will help it work with states and employers on apprenticeships, early-career training, retraining mid-career workers, and strengthening the social safety net. Its RAISE US Policy Lab will test ideas for supporting and retraining workers, then turn the findings into recommendations for policymakers and the private sector. Raimondo said action in Washington isn't keeping pace with Americans' AI anxiety. The coalition includes businesses, organised labour, nonprofits, universities, and bipartisan governors.

US consumer resilience lifts Coca-Cola, Visa and Walmart shares despite high prices

US consumers keep spending despite higher prices, and that is lifting shares of several big consumer names, according to Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi. He called the trend "remarkable resilience." Coca-Cola raised prices, yet Coke Zero sales rose 16% in the third quarter. Hilton reported strong spending on rooms, and Delta continues to see strength in premium seats and upgrades. Executives said spending across income bands stayed steady, with the highest band growing fastest. One said it saw no sign of weakness among lower-spending consumers. Sozzi said this resilience explains recent gains in Target and Macy's shares. Walmart stock is up about 11% in the month, after a challenging year for shareholders.

Walmart expands Better Care Services with new healthcare marketplace powered by General Medicine.

Walmart expands Better Care Services with new healthcare marketplace powered by General Medicine. The expansion is designed to make healthcare easier to navigate by bringing providers, services and pricing information into one searchable marketplace. October 26, 2026. 8:39 AM BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Walmart is expanding its Better Care Services platform through a new healthcare marketplace experience powered by General Medicine, broadening access to healthcare options from a growing network of third-party providers. The enhanced platform combines Walmart's consumer reach with General Medicine's care catalog technology, enabling customers to compare services, evaluate potential costs, and access care through a single destination. The expansion is designed to make healthcare easier to navigate by bringing providers, services and pricing information into one searchable marketplace. Customers can browse a range of healthcare offerings, including urgent care, pediatric services, mental health support, nutrition counseling and weight management programs, while comparing options based on location, availability, cost and personal preferences. The platform also provides estimated out-of-pocket costs based on insurance coverage, along with cash pricing when available, helping customers better understand expenses before making care decisions. Once a service is selected, customers can access scheduling and fulfillment options directly through the marketplace. The expanded Better Care Services marketplace now incorporates services from General Medicine and more than 10 existing third-party healthcare providers, with additional partners expected to join over time. "Expanding Better Care Services brings more care options into one place, helping customers explore what's available, compare choices and take the next step in a way that works for them," said Ralph Clare, executive vice president of Health & Wellness for Walmart U.S. TJ Parker, CEO of General Medicine, said the partnership aims to create a more consumer-friendly healthcare experience by making services easier to understand, compare and purchase. Walmart said the initiative builds on its broader efforts to improve healthcare affordability and access, including its pharmacy network, vision centers, health and wellness product assortment, and expanding portfolio of virtual and third-party healthcare services. The enhanced Better Care Services platform is available at Walmart's healthcare marketplace and is intended to help consumers make more informed healthcare decisions with greater transparency around available services and costs. Dangerous high chair and food recalls hit Walmart shelves.

Dangerous high chair and food recalls hit Walmart shelves. A high chair, a Great Value fruit cocktail and millions of pounds of meat are affected Which recalled products might be sitting in your kitchen right now, and what should shoppers do about them? Three recent recalls connected to Walmart involve a child's high chair, canned fruit that may contain lead and more than a million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry. 1. Costway Convertible High Chairs. Costway is recalling more than 3,000 Convertible High Chairs because they lack a passive restraint system. Without one, a child could slip through the opening between the feeding tray and the seat, creating a fall and entrapment hazard that could cause serious injury or death. The chairs also violate the mandatory federal standard for high chairs. No injuries have been reported. Families who own one should stop using it and check the Consumer Product Safety Commission notice for remedy details. 2. Great Value Fruit Cocktail. More than 44,000 cans of Walmart's Great Value Fruit Cocktail in Fruit Juice from Concentrate were recalled over possible elevated lead levels. Pacific Coast Producers started the recall on Oct. 1, and the FDA classified it as Class II, meaning the product may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects and serious harm is unlikely. The affected cans hold 15 ounces, carry UPC 078742369570 and lot code 6FCB 04 C2263, and have a best-by date of Sept. 1, 2027. They were sold in Alabama, Arizona, Louisiana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Washington and Wyoming. Lead is especially concerning for children and pregnant women because it can affect brain development. Shoppers should not eat the fruit and can throw it away or return it to Walmart for a possible refund. Questions can go to the FDA at 1-888-463-6332. 3. Ready-to-eat meat and poultry products. Kayem Foods of Chelsea, Massachusetts, is recalling about 1,584,361 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products over possible temperature abuse. The items were made between March 31 and Oct. 7, 2026. The problem surfaced after a customer complained on Oct. 1 about warm products at delivery. The company found that some items had been stored in a warehouse cooler with temperature swings. The products shipped nationwide, including to Walmart stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont, as well as to Hong Kong. No illnesses have been reported. The Food Safety and Inspection Service has published the full product list and UPC codes for anyone checking their refrigerator. How to stay informed. Walmart keeps a list of recalled products sold in its stores and online, sorted into food, general merchandise and prescription categories. Checking it regularly, along with federal recall notices, is the surest way to catch a problem early.
