About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in electric powertrain, battery systems, or vehicle propulsion.
  • Strong fundamentals in electric machines, power electronics, and lithium-ion battery systems.
  • Experience with high-voltage system design and safety considerations.
  • A proven track record delivering hardware from concept through validation.
  • Experience with system modeling tools.
  • Hands-on experience prototyping, testing, and debugging electromechanical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and make high-quality engineering decisions under uncertainty.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end development of the electric powertrain system, including the battery pack, high-voltage architecture, motors, inverters, and drivetrain.
  • Define system architecture and key tradeoffs across performance, range, efficiency, thermal management, and durability.
  • Lead battery system integration, including pack design requirements, thermal strategy, high-voltage safety, and interfaces with the battery management system.
  • Drive system-level modeling and analysis of energy consumption, thermal behavior, duty cycles, and degradation.
  • Collaborate with controls, autonomy, electrical, and thermal teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Lead validation strategy and execution, including component testing, battery validation, vehicle testing, and durability testing.
  • Support prototype builds and vehicle bring-up, including hands-on debugging of high-voltage and powertrain systems.
  • Own supplier technical relationships for battery systems, motors, inverters, and drivetrain components.
  • Identify and mitigate key risks across high-voltage safety, thermal limits, and system reliability.
  • Set engineering standards, review designs, and raise the team’s technical bar.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with heavy-duty trucks or commercial electric vehicle platforms.
  • Experience with battery pack design, integration, or validation.
  • Experience with battery management systems, high-voltage distribution, and thermal management systems.
  • Experience with inverter/motor integration and controls.
  • Familiarity with automotive standards such as ISO 26262, SAE, and FMVSS.
  • Experience scaling systems from prototype to production.
  • Experience working in fast-paced startup or product development environments.

About the Company

Humble Robotics

Autonomous, cabless EV haulers for freight

Humble Robotics builds fully autonomous, cabless, battery-electric Class 8 haulers designed to move freight dock-to-dock in warehouses, railyards, and seaports, starting with shipping-container moves. The trucks navigate using 360° cameras, LiDAR, and radar, and run vision-language-action models to drive themselves, with remote operational support as part of a full-service offering. Unlike many competitors, Humble leverages a cabless, lighter-weight design for better payload efficiency, and it brings together a team with experience from Tesla, Waymo, Cruise, Google, Rivian, Apple, Uber, and Waabi. The company aims to advance the autonomy stack, launch pilots, and begin early manufacturing to support eventual public-road deployment.
