Requirements
A high school diploma; relevant production experience is desirable.
A minimum of 1–2 years of experience in CNC set-up or machine operation.
Good team-building and motivational skills.
A good command of written and spoken English, with the ability to train other employees.
Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and the ability to read drawings.
Ability to work well with numbers.
A solid understanding of CNC machines, squares, tape measures, punch presses or press brakes, Mastercam software, linear measuring machines, weighing scales, drills, digital callipers, Faro CMM, calculators, and deburring wheels.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC and other machines in the Fabrication Department effectively and cost-efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards; some programming may be required.
Make adjustments to machining programs as required.
Fabricate required parts based on fabrication drawings.
Follow work order specifications and packing instructions.
Read and follow all notes in the Epics computer system.
Ensure the first-piece sample is double-checked by other plant personnel.
Ensure materials are identified and all work order data is correct before production.
Ensure incoming materials meet specifications before proceeding with fabrication.
Report equipment malfunctions.
Complete orders on time.
Comply with all quality-related policies, procedures, and system requirements.
Perform other jobs as required.
Desired Qualifications
Relevant production experience.
Some education in CNC, considered a strong asset.
Experience with Epics.
Reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor the CNC Set-up Operator organizes and sets up the manufacturing equipment to produce finished good to spec as identified by the engineering drawings.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the CNC Set-up Operator are detailed below, but not limited to the following:
Set-Up and operate all CNC and other machines in the Fabrication Department in an effective and cost-efficient manner while maintaining good quality and safety standards; some programming may be required
Make adjustments to the machining program as required
Fabricate the required parts based on the Fabrication Drawing
Perform required PM checks daily as required
Follow work order specifications and packing instructions
Read and follow all notes in the computer system (Epics)
Ensure first piece sample is double-checked by other plant personnel
Ensure material is identified and all work order data is correct before production
Ensure incoming materials are to spec before proceeding with fabrication
Responsible for reporting equipment malfunction
On-time order completion
Comply with all quality related policies, procedures and system requirements
Perform other jobs as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
High School diploma and relevant production experience is desirable
Some education in CNC is considered a strong asset
Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in CNC Set-Up/Machine Operation
Technical Skills/Competence
Must have good team building and motivational skills
Should have a good command in English, written and oral with the ability to train other employees
Must be familiar with precision measuring instruments and the ability to read drawings
Ability to work well with numbers is essential
A solid understanding of the following equipment/technology; CNC machine, square, tape measure, punch press/press brake, Mastercam software, linear measuring machine, weighting scale, drills, digital calliper, Faro cmm, calculator deburring wheel
Experience with Epics considered an asset

The expected pay range for this position is $22.44 – $27.55 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.
