Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree is preferred.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • At least 8 years of experience in construction engineering and inspection, transportation construction, or materials testing is required.
  • Experience working directly with contractors and field staff is required.
  • Familiarity with AASHTOWare and ProjectWise is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites, including occasional overnight stays, is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage transportation construction projects for ITD and LHTAC.
  • Oversee construction inspection staff and provide day-to-day direction and mentorship.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, including contract administration and documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, local highway districts, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with ITD and LHTAC standards and specifications.
  • Review contractor work, quantities, and pay applications for accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor contractor performance and resolve field issues in collaboration with project teams.
  • Participate in field reviews, project meetings, and stakeholder coordination efforts.
  • Use project management and documentation platforms such as AASHTOWare, ProjectWise, and SharePoint.
