Knowledge Road provides special education support services to K-12 schools and families, mainly within NYC's DOE, by supplying certified SETSS teachers and related service providers under a contractor staffing model. Its core service is SETSS, where teachers deliver individualized or small-group instruction to help students meet their IEP goals, in classrooms or separate locations. It also offers ABA therapy, academic intervention, counseling, and other therapies, supported by resources like paper-free billing, IT support, curriculum advisors, and teaching materials for its educator network. Its goal is to address the shortage of qualified NYC special education teachers and ensure compliant, DOE-aligned delivery of IEP-mandated services through long-term partnerships rather than one-off placements.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • 2026 job listings show active hiring for SETSS and SLP roles.
  • Current postings advertise $60-$100 hourly pay, signaling demand and healthy gross margins.
  • Expanded ABA, counseling, speech, occupational, and physical therapy broadens wallet share across referrals.

What critics are saying

  • NYC DOE funding concentration makes one reimbursement dispute or policy change devastating.
  • 1099 classification invites wage-and-hour claims, IRS scrutiny, and teacher churn during 2026.
  • Dependence on certified SETSS talent in Brooklyn exposes service failures if recruiting slows.

What makes Knowledge Road unique

  • Knowledge Road specializes in NYC DOE SETSS, a hard-to-staff IEP mandate niche.
  • Its 1099 educator network supports fast placements across schools, homes, and community settings.
  • Paper-free billing, curriculum advisors, and compliance support reduce administrative friction for providers.
