Responsibilities
  • Tour operating departments daily and make adjustments as needed through department heads.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including training sessions presented by managers and the General Manager using Highgate Hotel's effective training steps, and review previous and future sales and operations efforts.
  • Meet financial review dates and complete corporate-directed programs in a timely manner.
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with department managers, M.I.D.'s, and available supervisors.
  • Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and follow Highgate Hotel standard checkbook accounting procedures.
  • Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate-sponsored training programs.
  • With the Director of Sales, conduct daily HHBR meetings focused on prospecting and existing-account calls and potential business results.
  • Participate in hotel sales efforts, including calling on top ten accounts, meeting clients, hosting luncheons and receptions, and meeting on-site contacts daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Participate in scheduled Manager on Duty coverage.
  • Maintain direct contact with and monitor the development of management trainees.
  • Follow Highgate Hotel policies and procedures and train new managers to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee and assist with the Highgate Hotel budget process as required.
  • Ensure each department conducts service-standards training using Highgate Hotel's effective training steps, including compliance with the Highgate Hotel Garden Standard of the Week training.
  • Help create a positive, guest-focused, team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
  • Inspect rooms weekly at a minimum with the Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer.
  • Ensure invoices are completely processed daily using the accounts payable process.
  • Ensure the Corporate Office receives all required financial-document information monthly in compliance with the monthly accounting calendar.
  • Ensure the property's cleanliness and maintenance through inspections and preventive-maintenance programs with department managers.
  • Ensure employees are attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient in interactions with guests, managers, and other employees.
  • Forecast the hotel's monthly financial position by estimating revenues and line-by-line expenses, and analyze previous and projected data to generate an accurate reforecast.
  • Conduct management interviews and follow Highgate Hotel standard operating procedures for hiring; ensure managers follow standards for interviewing and hiring departmental staff.
  • Interview prospective final candidates for vacant hotel management positions before any offer is extended.
  • Conduct Executive Committee members' performance appraisals according to Highgate Hotel standard operating procedures and ensure managers follow standards when administering staff appraisals.
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline management personnel according to Highgate Hotel standard operating procedures, and ensure managers follow standards for counseling and disciplinary steps.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Vice President or Regional Director of Operations.
  • Ensure employees receive fair and equitable treatment according to Highgate Hotel standard operating procedures.
  • Meet clients and potential clients on the property, including contacts touring the property, to assist sales efforts.
  • Be in public areas during peak times, greet guests, and offer assistance as needed.
  • Ensure hotel-safe handling procedures, including security procedures and monthly safe audits, are followed.
  • Ensure monthly credit meetings are conducted and take an active role in hotel credit and collection policies.
