Requirements
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in email fundraising or similar work.
  • Mastery of at least 3 common customer relationship management systems or fundraising platforms, such as ActionKit, ActBlue, Blue State Digital, Action Network, or NationBuilder.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and customer relationship management systems.
  • Mastery of email writing for fundraising.
  • Understanding and effective use of theories of change.
  • Excellent writing skills, including diction, grammar, sentence structure, and spelling.
  • Ability to switch voice and tone according to client needs.
  • Proficiency in HyperText Markup Language and Cascading Style Sheets as needed to run major email programs.
  • Ability to manage large clients independently.
  • Creative writing ability.
  • Enthusiasm for data analysis and testing fundraising content.
  • Interest in fundraising for major political campaigns, nonprofits, and causes.

Responsibilities
  • Write fundraising and organizing emails in clients’ voices and adapt writing to different calls to action.
  • Coordinate with clients to review, edit, approve, and schedule email copy, and incorporate feedback.
  • Code, produce, target, test, and launch mass email communications, including troubleshooting intermediate and complex code issues.
  • Use multiple customer relationship management systems to run email programs and train and mentor junior team members on new systems.
  • Analyze email metrics and report performance, best practices, and test results to clients.
  • Build, present, and explain detailed monthly reports to clients and coach junior team members through the reporting process.
  • Serve as a day-to-day contact for clients and proactively respond to their needs.
  • Lead or substantially contribute to brainstorms, team meetings, conference calls, and other internal meetings.
  • Develop monthly content calendars and fundraising goals for clients.
  • Design and conduct A/B tests, compile results, and present testing recommendations and findings.
  • Produce and test ActBlue fundraising pages and audit pages for alignment with client branding and digital fundraising best practices.
  • Write copy for landing pages.
  • Contribute substantive content to new client pitches.
  • Directly manage at least one junior email team member, including regular check-ins about professional development, growth, and progress.
  • Develop professional development goals with direct reports and help train and onboard junior employees.
  • Manage and conduct employee performance evaluations with appropriate supervision.
  • Run training sessions, recommend training topics, and manage the development and delivery of training.
  • Provide constructive copy feedback and edits and review email code for issues and solutions.
  • Independently manage projects and manage junior team members on projects.
  • Lead new client account setup and onboarding.
  • Coordinate with the product team to produce on-brand landing pages and templates.
  • Set up or transition clients to new customer relationship management system instances.
  • Recommend improvements to email team systems and streamline team processes.
  • Contribute to interviewing and recruiting new email team members.
  • Help determine client allocation, backup allocation, and team-member workloads.
