Requirements
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • For Clinical Specialist I, enrollment in a 350-hour educational program or completion of the one-time requirements within three months of hire.
  • For Clinical Specialist II, CASAC-Trainee or Provisional certification; completion of a 350-hour educational program or 4,000 hours of work experience; 85 hours of Section I education; and completion of OASAS one-time requirements.
  • For Clinical Specialist III, CASAC or other QHP status certification.
  • At least one year of experience in the substance use, mental health, or human services field.
  • A valid New York State driver's license and reliable automobile.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate recovery, employment, education, support group, and housing services within agency Reintegration programs under intensive clinical supervision of an OASAS-approved Qualified Health Professional.
  • Document individual progress and prepare discharge summaries in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
  • Provide case management, including enhancing adult daily living skills, and meet regularly with residents to monitor progress.
  • Make referrals, coordinate services, and consult regularly with providers, legal agencies, and community organizations to support smooth transitions and minimize service fragmentation.
  • Help residents identify and connect with community agencies, resources, and supports.
  • Coordinate educational and vocational skill development.
  • Organize and maintain case records.
  • Assist with resident admissions and orientation as needed.
  • Ensure residents' safety during assigned hours.
  • Respond to immediate social or housekeeping issues, crises, and emergencies.
  • Provide breathalyzer and toxicology screening as needed.
  • Enter data into the agency database.
  • Respond professionally and responsibly to incidents involving contagious diseases, including HIV, Hepatitis B, and tuberculosis.
  • Assist with the program's medication self-administration policies and procedures.
  • Assist with transportation as needed.
  • Facilitate the resident government's program guidelines and provide resident education.
  • Serve on agency committees as requested.
  • Carry out additional duties essential to the stated responsibilities as assigned.
  • Integrate Trauma-Informed Care and its five principles into duties and interactions with staff, residents, and external partners.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations, including Federal Confidentiality (42 CFR, Part 2), HIPAA, Medicaid, and/or HUD requirements.
  • Attend work regularly at the work location.
  • Perform the essential duties and responsibilities under intensive supervision.
