Hotel Ship Director
About the job
- At least 2 years of proven experience in hotel management roles at four- or five-star establishments, with emphasis on Food & Beverage and Front Office.
- Strong knowledge of management, user-level IT systems, international hotel standards, and HACCP requirements.
- Experience in stock management, cost control, and budget management.
- Fluency in English is required; French and/or German is preferred.
- Ability to manage by objectives and work under pressure.
- Availability to embark on the Douro River during the cruise season.
- Prepare weekly reports on cruise progress using an existing template.
- Monitor monthly inventories, identify deviations, and implement corrections.
- Evaluate weekly passenger analyses and develop improvement action plans based on customer feedback.
- Record incidents involving the ship, passengers, or crew on an appropriate platform and track their resolution.
- Manage food and beverage costs to meet established budget targets.
- Supervise waste-weighing records to promote efficient waste management and operational sustainability.
- Foster a stable work environment through close team management and report situations that may require external assistance.
- Report all incidents to the Operations Directorate and General Directorate and request guidance when needed.
- Manage the petty cash fund, minimize its use, and take corrective action regarding emergency purchases.
- Collaborate with the corporate team by providing information about training or support needs across operational areas.
- Conduct semiannual and annual evaluations of all employees, identifying opportunities for improvement and promotion.
- Lead HACCP audits and implement corrective measures to achieve at least an 80% approval rating.
- Hold daily briefings with Heads of Department and monthly briefings with the full team.
- French and/or German language proficiency.
