Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited MRI certification program.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists.
  • Previous experience in a diagnostic radiology or imaging setting.
  • Proficiency running advanced magnetic resonance studies independently.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation and basic life support certification.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, lift, and walk without restrictions.
  • Ability to make quick, accurate decisions and perform effectively under stressful situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Technical expertise in magnetic resonance imaging.
  • Effective, composed communication to address patients' questions.
  • Interpersonal skills and a patient-focused attitude.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain current knowledge of magnetic resonance technology and assist with equipment quality control.
  • Ensure patient safety, including screening for implants and researching any necessary clearance.
  • Sterilize and maintain equipment, maintain room cleanliness, and keep adequate supplies in stock.
  • Administer contrast using aseptic injection technique.
  • Address patient concerns during procedures and explain magnetic resonance procedures to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Position patients carefully to obtain correct imaging.
  • Document radiological services by accurately recording data in patients' charts.
  • Ensure quality standards are met and promote continuous quality improvement.
  • Provide education, training, and direction to new technologists.
  • Perform all magnetic resonance imaging procedures according to department standards and radiologist-set protocols, and communicate related information to the appropriate physician.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
