  • Experience with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, managed-service-first architecture, and incremental monolith-to-serverless migration patterns.
  • Experience with REST, SOAP, SFTP, CAC/mTLS, OIDC, JWT, OAuth2, API keys, SSH keys, delta/change-data-capture synchronization, ETL, data transformation, and legacy-system integration.
  • Knowledge of secure coding for Department of Defense and government environments, AES-256-GCM, FIPS 140-3, role-based access control, audit logging, RMF, STIG, and NIST 800-53 expectations.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD using GitHub Actions or GitLab, monorepo practices, Jest, Vitest, Playwright, supertest, Lighthouse, Docker, and Agile/Scrum ceremonies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed design, development, unit and integration testing, and delivery of features spanning the front end, back end, synchronization layer, and external integrations.
  • Produce scalable, secure, high-quality TypeScript and Node code satisfying functional and non-functional requirements for performance, offline resilience, accessibility, and security.
  • Build and maintain an offline-first Progressive Web Application front end in React and TypeScript using Redux Toolkit, Material UI, and Vite; implement service workers, background synchronization, and encrypted at-rest storage using IndexedDB with FIPS-validated AES-256-GCM.
  • Build and maintain back-end services in Express and Node using controller and repository patterns, and contribute to migration of the monolith into domain-aligned AWS Lambda services.
  • Implement and migrate persistence across MongoDB and DynamoDB, including modeling DynamoDB access patterns for single-table designs.
  • Develop configurable software services integrating the application with external Department of Defense and enterprise systems, including data transformation, format conversion, and delta/change-data-capture synchronization while preserving data integrity for accountability workflows.
  • Implement REST, SOAP, and SFTP integrations with pluggable authentication using CAC/mTLS, OIDC, JWT, OAuth2, API keys, and SSH keys.
  • Design data movement and process flows for connectivity-aware operation across online, intermittent, and disconnected modes.
  • Apply secure-development practices and program design patterns, including layered authentication, role-based authorization, resource-level access control, and tamper-evident audit trails.
  • Use agentic artificial intelligence coding tools to generate, refactor, and migrate code in logical, reviewable chunks, then direct, review, and harden the output to program quality and security standards.
  • Write and maintain automated tests using Jest, Vitest, Playwright, supertest, and Lighthouse, and participate in code reviews and functional, regression, performance, and accessibility testing.
  • Create and maintain design and systems documentation, architecture decision records, API specifications using OpenAPI/Swagger, and process and data-flow diagrams.
  • Lead feature-area design, set and enforce coding standards, mentor mid-level developers, and own technical trade-off decisions for an assigned domain.
  • Collaborate with the technical delivery lead, solutions architect, DevSecOps engineers, UX designers, cybersecurity staff, and mission users within an Agile/Scrum cadence and Git-based CI/CD pipeline.
  • Ensure assigned work lands within sprint and program schedules.

  • AWS Certified Developer (Associate) or AWS Solutions Architect (Associate) certification.
  • Prior Department of Defense or federal digital modernization experience and familiarity with military or government accountability and readiness workflows.
  • Experience designing for disconnected, intermittent, and low-bandwidth environments.
  • Experience integrating with Department of Defense personnel, logistics, or records systems.
  • Experience with the Model Context Protocol, retrieval-augmented generation, or large-language-model provider abstraction and failover patterns.
  • Experience with multiple artificial intelligence inference deployment models, including commercial cloud, sovereign cloud, and on-device or edge deployment.
  • Experience with AWS Lambda Powertools, CloudWatch, X-Ray observability, and infrastructure as code using CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
  • Performance testing using k6 and visual-regression or Storybook testing.
