Requirements
  • An Associate’s Degree is required.
  • Completion of state-sponsored training complying with the requirements of Wisconsin Administrative Code DHS 254.03 is required upon hire.
  • Competency must be maintained in all areas of economic support.
  • Good oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent reading and oral comprehension skills are required.
  • The ability to multitask and good math skills are required.
  • Excellent reasoning and critical thinking ability and keyboarding skills are required.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services is required.
  • Knowledge of various types of real and personal property is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills are required.
  • Knowledge of care issues and costs associated with medical and nursing home care is required.
  • Case management skills are required.
  • The position requires prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer, with periodic standing or walking.

Responsibilities
  • Receive calls from a five-county consortium regarding applications, renewals, interviews, and changes.
  • Provide program and budget explanations and referrals.
  • Engage in conflict resolution and document processing.
  • Query and monitor state databases.
  • Process cases in a time-sensitive manner and verify due dates.
  • Monitor the Dashboard.
  • Process applications, renewals, six-month reports, and changes.
  • Use the mainframe, state wage match, and child support database.
  • Research and review policies and procedures for each program.
  • Engage outside sources calling for clients or asking questions regarding benefits.
  • Assist clients with outside sources of assistance, including ForwardHealth, housing programs, legal services, and state agencies.
  • Assist clients applying for Healthcare, FoodShare, and Childcare benefits.
  • Determine whether clients are eligible for benefits and assist long-term care applicants.
  • Refer clients to other county and statewide programs.
Desired Qualifications
  • One to two years of post-secondary education in related areas such as finance, human services, and law.
  • Knowledge of internet, email, Microsoft Office, Excel, and databases.
