Requirements
  • Basic working knowledge of electronic circuits and components in analog and digital design.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe products.
  • Previous success collaborating in a diverse, multidisciplinary, team-oriented culture.
  • An Associate Degree is required for the Professional and Intermediate Professional levels.
  • For the Intermediate Professional level, two or more years of relevant experience are required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain a government security clearance.
  • Employees must participate in the Applied Research Laboratory drug testing program and comply with applicable electronic and physical monitoring requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, analysis, manufacture, and procurement support of printed circuit boards in support of Applied Research Laboratory research offices.
  • Use printed circuit board software to create schematics, printed circuit boards, assemblies, library parts, bills of materials, and other documentation.
  • Collaborate with technical staff on conceptual design of electromechanical systems.
  • Assist with or facilitate material selection, packaging, tolerance analysis, manufacturing support, and cost projection efforts.
  • Provide work status updates and present in design review meetings with senior staff.
  • Assist and support senior technical staff in evolving design methods and techniques, including templates, for new and evolving research programs.
  • Assist and support development or evaluation of new software tools and work processes to improve department capabilities in design, reporting, and operational efficiency.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with printed circuit board design software, including component creation, schematic layout, and design.
  • Experience with Altium software.
  • Electronics industry knowledge spanning printed circuit board design through manufacturing.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management and Configuration Management.
  • Certification or familiarization with IPC standards.
