Responsibilities
  • Configure, build, and test new ruggedized server configurations in a hands-on lab to meet emerging telecom and far-edge customer requirements.
  • Develop and execute system-level test and validation plans for new server products.
  • Deploy and validate firmware, BIOS, BMC, and operating-system stacks across new hardware configurations.
  • Translate ambiguous customer issues into actionable validation plans, execute those plans, diagnose root causes, and provide clear solution recommendations.
  • Represent telco and service-provider customers in technical requirements discussions with global engineering teams.

  • Partner hands-on with peers and remotely with engineering teams across distributed global sites to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Engage product management, technical marketing, and account teams to advance solutions to customer deployment problems.
  • Bring telco and edge customer needs into global product and engineering decisions so deployment conditions inform product design.
  • Communicate technical findings, trade-offs, and recommendations to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
Desired Qualifications
  • Exposure to ruggedized, telecom, or edge platforms and familiarity with NEBS, ETSI, or MIL-STD environmental and EMC requirements.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting operating systems such as Windows and Linux.

About the company

Dell Technologies makes laptops, desktops, servers, data storage and networking equipment for businesses, governments, schools and consumers, and it builds many of the server racks inside large AI data centers. In 2016 it completed its $67 billion purchase of storage maker EMC, then the largest technology deal ever. One division sells PCs, monitors and Alienware gaming computers, while the other sells PowerEdge servers, storage arrays and networking gear to companies running their own data centers. Dell earns money from those hardware sales plus support, financing and subscription services. Michael Dell founded the company in 1984 from his University of Texas dorm room, and it is based in Round Rock, Texas.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • AI demand is surging: Dell booked $60.9 billion in AI server orders in the quarter ending July 2026.
  • A $95 billion order backlog gives teams years of work: Dell raised its fiscal 2027 sales forecast to $192 billion.
  • Dell pays for staff to keep learning: its benefits profile lists tuition assistance and apprenticeship programs.

What critics are saying

  • Jobs keep shrinking: Dell's March 2026 annual report showed headcount down 10% to about 97,000, a third straight yearly cut.
  • A few giant buyers drive AI sales: SpaceX and CoreWeave ranked among Dell's largest customers in August 2026.
  • PCs earn thin profits: Dell's PC division kept just 7.6 cents of operating profit per sales dollar last quarter.

What makes Dell Technologies unique

  • Dell sells both halves of computing: data center gear brought in $31.8 billion last quarter, PCs another $15.0 billion.
  • The founder still controls it: Michael Dell, chairman and CEO, holds super-voting shares with over half the director votes.
  • Dell sells straight to buyers at scale: its own sales force, not resellers, brings in about half of revenue.

doubleAI raises $200M at $1B+ valuation for AI that rewrites code to run faster

Israeli AI developer doubleAI has raised $200 million in a Series A round co-led by Lightspeed and Bessemer. Nvidia Corp., Dell Technologies Inc. and several others joined. CTech reported that the round values the Tel Aviv-based company at more than $1 billion. DoubleAI's model, Maxwell, makes software more efficient by optimising a program's binary rather than its source code. The company says Maxwell sped up 55% of the algorithms in Nvidia's cuGraph library by a factor of two or more. It also improved pandas' performance on a query speed benchmark by a factor of 38. The company plans to sell Maxwell to enterprises that want to cut AI hardware usage. The Wall Street Journal reported that doubleAI will spend half the round on 1,000 Nvidia B300 Blackwell graphics cards.

Michael Dell warns memory shortage could last four years as AI demand outpaces supply

Dell Technologies chief executive officer Michael Dell warned that the memory shortage could last four years as AI demand outpaces supply. "Maybe it's a four-year problem because there's just not enough supply," he told CNBC on Tuesday. New factories take about four years to build, so plants planned today may not produce until 2029 or 2030. ASML Holding NV said its chipmaking-equipment supply would fall short of demand in 2027 and 2028. Dell reported $16.4 billion in quarterly AI server revenue and a record $95 billion backlog in September. Barclays downgraded the stock to Equal-Weight and cut its price target from $603 to $574; shares fell about 8%.

Dell named core AI infrastructure partner for Honeywell's Forge Cognition platform

Dell Technologies has been chosen as a core AI infrastructure partner for Honeywell's new Forge Cognition platform. Honeywell is working with Dell and NVIDIA to power the platform for building and industrial automation across data centre and edge sites. Early pilots are running at major global facilities. They apply agentic AI and digital twin tools to physical operations. The deal suggests Dell's hardware is being built into long-life industrial projects, not just short-cycle server sales. Risks remain: tight component supply and mid single-digit margins on AI GPU systems could slow how fast Dell turns its AI backlog into higher-margin storage and services revenue.

Dell tops CIO spending plans as price rises pull forward hardware buying

Corporate technology buyers expect spending on storage, PCs, and servers to accelerate in 2027, according to a Morgan Stanley survey of chief information officers (CIOs). Dell Technologies ranked first in three-year vendor spending intentions at 31%, ahead of Hewlett Packard Enterprise at 28% and Pure Storage at 22%. Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring said higher prices and purchases pulled forward from 2027 are driving the lift more than on-premise AI demand. Between 75% and 83% of CIOs are already adjusting 2026 hardware budgets, and more than 70% expect server, storage, or PC budgets to flatten or decline by 2028. CIOs expect about 29% of AI inference workloads to run on-premise or on devices; the rest would stay in the cloud. Dell shares fell about 11% on October 14 after Barclays downgraded the stock to Equal Weight.
