Job Description
Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Flint Engine Plant on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The Quality Engineer will lead problem solving activities for identified failures to drive to prescribed exit criteria. Work will be done independently under general direction from Launch Quality Lead and site Quality Manager. The Quality Engineer will be expected to present clear problem definition, technical mentorship on complex problems, and regular updates on progress.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):
Track and analyze all results
Initiate formal problem-solvingactivity for all failures and coordinate resourcesto identify root causes to drive to prescribed exit criteria
Coordinate input from internal / external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
Maintain updates to Quality Requirements
Maintain Quality Requirement deviations from plants
Maintain Cost of Quality reports by Plant
Establish a course of action and coordinate/support activities to accomplish a flawless launch
Develop effective daily/weekly Quality routine which adheres to GM Global Quality Management

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
2 years of experience working in quality
Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift
Ability to work overtime as needed
Managerial Courage to provide direct, honest, constructive feedback to suppliers/customers in a subtle and professional manner
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others inside / outside the work group and site
Highly organized and self-directed
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with highlevel of autonomy and accountability for results
Knowledge of formal Problem-Solving techniques
Ability to effectively use computer software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams)
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
2+ years of experience working in quality
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Experience working in a manufacturing environment
Process and product knowledge of engine manufacturing (Machining and Assembly)
Knowledge of GPS Machining and Assembly Quality processes
Proficiency and knowledge of the requirements in the Global Quality Manual
Proficiency and knowledge of the elements of the GM Quality System / GMS BIQ and of the Quality Launch Plan
Ability to coach, teach and audit elements of GM Quality Manual and GMS BIQ Principle and Elements.
Familiar with GM systems (SPPS System, GSIP, and Flexnet)
