Private nursing and health sciences university
West Coast University is a private, for-profit university that trains nurses and other healthcare workers at campuses in Southern California, the Dallas area and Miami, and online. Nursing degrees run from the associate level to the Doctor of Nursing Practice, and its Los Angeles graduate campus grants doctorates in pharmacy, physical therapy and occupational therapy. Nursing students practice on manikins in simulation labs before clinical rotations, while dental hygiene students treat patients at an on-campus clinic. The university charges tuition and takes part in federal student aid programs. It carries the name of a California school chartered in 1909 and bought out of bankruptcy in 1997, and is administered from Irvine, California.
