Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in science, biomedical, health-related, or regulatory field.
  • Three years of experience in compliance/regulations, auditing, legal work, research, medical, scientific writing, clinical trials, or a related area.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations regarding human subjects, including Health and Human Services and Food and Drug Administration regulations.
  • Ability to gather, interpret, organize, and present complex research compliance data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary internal and external individuals.
  • Knowledge of standard software such as Word, Excel, Adobe, and Access.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all aspects of Institutional Review Board review based on institutional guidelines and federal regulations.
  • Consult with and advise faculty, staff, and students in preparing protocol applications.
  • Provide pre-reviews of protocols, including exempt-status determinations.
  • Provide expertise about human subjects research to investigators and committee members regarding regulatory and institutional guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively and provide timely responses related to research reviews.
  • Respond to questions regarding the Human Research Protection Program compliance program.
  • Provide coordination and support for the Institutional Review Board.
  • Prepare for meetings by organizing review materials, agendas, and other meeting-related documents.
  • Perform post-review functions by preparing correspondence, minutes, and other reports based on Institutional Review Board determinations.
  • Assist the supervisor in developing or modifying standard business practices and office processes related to Human Research Protection Program functions.
  • Provide quality-assurance oversight of data entry related to research submissions, reports, and notices.
  • Maintain electronic and paper files, ensuring they are accurate and complete.
  • Assist the supervisor in developing training materials or administrative processes.
  • Conduct and participate in regulatory training or outreach activities as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in a health-related or regulatory field.
  • At least one year of experience in human subjects research compliance and two years of experience in a related area, such as social and behavioral research, biomedical research, or clinical trials management.
  • Certified Institutional Review Board Professional certification or Certified Clinical Research Professional certification.
