Razorpay launches a conversational AI Account Manager 'RAY' on WhatsApp for Businesses, in partnership with IndusInd Bank.

Razorpay launches a conversational AI Account Manager 'RAY' on WhatsApp for Businesses, in partnership with IndusInd Bank. Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], September 3: Razorpay, India's Omnichannel Payments Platform for Businesses, today launched RAY, an AI Account Manager on WhatsApp, in partnership with IndusInd Bank, with Bajaj Finance among the first businesses live on the platform. Built for businesses of every size, RAY gives founders an always-on, intelligent way to manage their payments and get support whenever they need it, day or night. Businesses have already had 20,000+ conversations with RAY, an early signal of how readily they are shifting to conversational, AI-led resolutions over dashboard-based ones for faster, more accessible support. Starting today, businesses can send RAY, Razorpay's AI Assistant, a simple message or voice note saying, "Show me a summary of my payments from yesterday" or go deeper with a request like, "Analyse my payments from the last two months and project my sales for the next two months." RAY responds in natural language, without founders having to navigate dashboards or multiple screens to find the information they need. For India's small businesses, getting help from their payments provider has just become as simple as texting a friend. But the bigger shift is what happens next. For years, the largest businesses have had someone they could call to help them manage their payments and business needs. Most small and growing businesses haven't. Whether it's checking the status of a settlement ahead of an urgent payout, sending a payment link to a customer, or issuing a refund while on the go, Razorpay is now putting that experience inside WhatsApp, the app most MSME's already use for their business. RAY is designed to do more than answer questions. It proactively tracks a business's payment health and shares useful insights and actions before a business owner has to ask. From recommendations such as "Here's how you can improve your payment success rate," to flagging an upcoming settlement with a message such as, "Your Rs 94,600 settles Wednesday. Tuesday is a bank holiday. Would you like to get it settled today?", RAY helps businesses stay ahead of issues and make faster decisions. The launch marks the next evolution of RAY, Razorpay's AI-powered merchant assistance technology. While RAY was originally built to help businesses access information and support by leveraging AI, it no longer just answers questions when businesses reach out - it independently triggers actions across Razorpay's systems. Where businesses once had to log into a dashboard to issue a refund or generate a payment link, they can now simply ask RAY to do it - on WhatsApp, in the middle of a conversation. The idea behind RAY started with a simple insight. Razorpay's systems can already detect the early signs of a merchant needing support - from improving payment success to staying ahead of settlements. The opportunity was in how to act on those signals at scale. Manual outreach, however well-intentioned, depends on someone picking up the phone, one merchant at a time - a model built for hundreds of businesses, not millions. RAY was built to close that gap: turning real-time signals into real-time action, reaching every business on time, automatically. Khilan Haria, Chief Product Officer, Razorpay said, "We've been thinking about how AI can fundamentally change the way businesses interact with their payments infrastructure. Millions of businesses across India are building and growing every day, and we wanted to make it easier for them to access the information, intelligent insights, and support they need along the way. With RAY, an AI Account Manager on WhatsApp, a business owner can simply ask for what they need in the most natural way possible and have it acted upon." He added, "More importantly, we are moving towards a world where they may not even need to ask us first. If we see an opportunity to help, whether it's improving payment success, staying ahead of a settlement, or taking an action at the right moment, RAY will proactively reach out and help. Every founder, regardless of the size of their business, should feel like they have someone looking out for them." Amitabh Saraff, Head - Institutional and Government Coverage, IndusInd Bank said, "At IndusInd Bank, we are committed to making banking simpler, faster, and more accessible for businesses. Our partnership with Razorpay reflects this focus by bringing account management capabilities to a familiar platform like WhatsApp, helping make business support more immediate, intuitive, and convenient." Bajaj - Tanaji Khot - Senior Head Banking, Bajaj Finance said, "When you're running a business, you don't always have the time to open another dashboard or follow up on multiple support channels. You just want to know what's happening and get an issue resolved quickly. Being able to simply send a message on WhatsApp makes the experience much more natural. It feels less like using another business tool and more like having someone available when you need help." Razorpay's AI Agent Platform is built around a single intelligent agent that can handle a wide range of business needs end-to-end. Instead of building separate AI agents for payments, settlements, refunds, and other functions, the platform allows a single agent to draw on different capabilities, tools, knowledge, and memory depending on what a business needs in the moment. It holds full 360-degree context for each merchant, and an extensive evaluation system validates every response in real time, keeping hallucinations in check without compromising latency. The result: RAY moves seamlessly within a single conversation - from understanding what a business needs, to finding the right information, to recommending the next step, to taking the action itself. With this launch, Razorpay is taking another step towards a future where AI doesn't just help businesses understand what is happening, but helps them act on it. Built on Razorpay's growing intelligence layer across payments, risk, and business operations, RAY is part of the ecosystem the company is building to make running a business simpler, more proactive, and increasingly intelligent. About Razorpay Razorpay, an omnichannel payments platform for businesses, strives to help Indian businesses with innovative solutions built with technology to address the payment and banking journey for businesses. Established in 2014 by alumni of IIT Roorkee, Shashank Kumar and Harshil Mathur, the company strives to provide technology payment solutions to many businesses. Razorpay, IndusInd Bank launch AI account manager on WhatsApp for businesses. Razorpay launches RAY, an AI-powered WhatsApp account manager with IndusInd Bank. Businesses can access payment info, support, and actions via messages. By Anshul September 2, 2026, 12:21:41 PM IST (Updated) Razorpay on Wednesday (September 2) launched an AI-powered account manager on WhatsApp that allows businesses to access payment information, seek support and carry out certain payment-related actions through messages or voice notes. Called RAY, the service has been launched in partnership with IndusInd Bank. Bajaj Finance is among the first businesses to go live with the service, Razorpay said. Businesses can ask RAY for information such as payment summaries and transaction analysis. The AI assistant can also perform certain actions, including generating payment links and initiating refunds, without requiring users to access Razorpay's dashboard. Razorpay said businesses can also use RAY to check settlement-related information and receive alerts on payment-related issues. For example, the assistant can flag an upcoming settlement that falls around a bank holiday and offer an option to settle it earlier. The company said RAY has handled more than 20,000 conversations with businesses so far. It did not disclose the number of businesses using the service. Razorpay said RAY is built on its AI agent platform, which allows a single AI agent to access different capabilities covering payments, settlements, refunds and support. The company said its system evaluates responses in real time to reduce incorrect or hallucinated responses. The launch expands RAY from an AI-based information and support tool into an agent that can also initiate actions on behalf of businesses. The company said the service is available to businesses of different sizes through WhatsApp. IndusInd Bank is the banking partner for the service, while Razorpay provides the payments and technology platform.

Unified Agent Protocol to power automated Small-Value UPI transactions by AI Agents.

Unified Agent Protocol to power automated Small-Value UPI transactions by AI Agents. Last updated: September 1, 2026 11:27 pm By Rinky Rai - A freelance journalist NPCI Readies Unified Agent Protocol to Enable Small-Value UPI Payments Through AI Agents NEW DELHI: The National Payments Corporation of India is preparing a framework to allow artificial intelligence agents to carry out small-value transactions on the Unified Payments Interface without requiring manual approval for every payment. According to a Reuters report, the retail payments umbrella entity is likely to unveil the framework, named the Unified Agent Protocol, next week at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai. Under the current architecture, users must confirm transactions before payments are completed, but the proposed protocol will automate the process for routine and low-value digital transactions where prior authorization has been granted. Integration with Existing Architecture to Drive Delegation The proposed framework is expected to leverage existing UPI functionalities, notably UPI Circle and Reserve Pay. UPI Circle permits primary account holders to delegate payment authority to another individual, while Reserve Pay facilitates payments within predetermined limits and conditions. By utilizing these tools, AI agents will be able to execute financial transfers under precise rules defined by users. Transaction limits, advance user consent, conditional triggers, and stringent safeguards will form the core operational parameters of the system, eliminating repetitive manual authentication for routine digital payments. Fintech Sector Expands Work on Agentic Payment Systems The move comes after NPCI successfully piloted an agentic payment mechanism last year, demonstrating the ability of AI tools to interact with payment networks. Several domestic fintech firms, including Razorpay, Pine Labs, and Cashfree, have also been building tools to support automated agent transactions. These technical advancements reflect a broader transition within the payments landscape, where artificial intelligence systems are shifting from serving as informational assistants to independently initiating and closing financial transactions within authorized parameters. Stringent Controls and Risk Mitigation Remain Central While agentic payments promise greater speed for low-value transfers, automated delegation also raises critical operational and security risks. Granting automated software the authority to execute transactions introduces potential challenges regarding incorrect instructions, fraudulent attempts, unauthorized transfers, and system errors. To mitigate these risks, the upcoming framework will rely heavily on explicit user permissions, automated transaction monitoring, active fraud detection algorithms, and dedicated mechanisms to halt or reverse suspicious payments. The precise transaction ceilings, operating guidelines, and security requirements will be established once NPCI formally publishes the implementation details of the protocol.

PaySprint launches SprintPGx: India's most intelligent multi-gateway payment platform.

PaySprint launches SprintPGx: India's most intelligent multi-gateway payment platform. New Delhi: PaySprint Private Limited, one of India's fastest-growing B2B Banking FinTech and RegTech infrastructure companies, today announced the launch of SprintPGx, an intelligent Multi-PG (Multi Payment Gateway) platform purpose-built for Indian enterprises. SprintPGx eliminates one of the most persistent and costly pain points in digital commerce: payment failures. By connecting businesses to 10+ payment gateways simultaneously through a single integration and using artificial intelligence to route every transaction in real time, SprintPGx delivers higher conversion, lower cost, and near-zero downtime without any change to the customer checkout experience. The Silent Revenue Drain Facing Indian Enterprises On average, 2 to 5% of all online payment attempts in India fail, a figure that may seem small until the scale is applied. For an enterprise processing ₹100 crore in monthly transaction volume, that translates to ₹2 to 5 crore in lost revenue every single month from payments that simply did not go through. These failures stem from a single structural vulnerability: dependence on one payment gateway. When that gateway experiences downtime, high traffic, or approval rate dips for a specific card type or bank, businesses are left powerless. SprintPGx was built to permanently solve this problem. How SprintPGx Works SprintPGx functions as an invisible intelligence layer between a merchant's checkout page and multiple payment gateways. When a customer initiates a payment, SprintPGx receives the transaction in under 100 milliseconds, analyzes the card type, issuing bank, transaction amount, time of day, and historical success rates, and routes the payment to the gateway most likely to approve it, all before the customer notices anything. If the selected gateway fails or times out, SprintPGx automatically switches to the next best option in milliseconds. The platform supports three core routing strategies: Success Rate Routing (routes to the gateway with the highest historical approval rate for that card-bank combination), Cost-Based Routing (directs transactions to the cheapest available gateway, reducing MDR costs by up to 20 basis points), and Load Balancing (distributes payment load across gateways during peak traffic periods such as festive sales or IPL ticketing). SprintPGX Key Highlights What sets SprintPGx apart from every other multi gateway solution in the market is how those routing rules are created. Merchants do not need to write code, build a separate integration or manually configure logic to change how their transactions are routed. They simply tell PIX, PaySprint's in built AI agent, what they want in plain conversational language, and the rules are applied. A merchant can state that all high value transactions on a particular bank's cards should go to the gateway with the best approval rate, or that traffic should shift to the lowest cost provider after a certain hour, and PIX configures it instantly. This makes SprintPGx the only platform of its kind in India where payment routing can be managed entirely through natural language, without engineering support or vendor intervention. Performance That Speaks for Itself A Complete Payment Operations Platform Beyond intelligent routing, SprintPGx is a full-stack payment operations platform. Its Unified Dashboard consolidates all transactions, settlements, refunds, and reports from every connected gateway into a single real-time view, ending the operational burden of logging into multiple portals. Automated Reconciliation reduces reconciliation overhead by up to 3x for finance teams. The platform's PCI-DSS-compliant, enables seamless recurring payments and card-on-file transactions for subscriptions and EMI-based businesses. SprintPGx is integrated with 10+ payment gateways including Razorpay, PayU, Cashfree, Phonepe, and Paytm PG and can handle 10,000+ transactions per second, making it purpose-built for India's highest-volume enterprises. Developer-friendly SDKs for Node.js, Python, PHP, Java, and Go, alongside native mobile SDKs and pre-built plugins for Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento, allow most merchants to go live in hours. Security & Compliance at the Core SprintPGx is certified under ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, and PCI DSS, the most comprehensive compliance stack available in the Indian payments market. The platform employs AES-256 encryption for data at rest, TLS 1.3 for data in transit, Zero-Trust architecture, multi-factor authentication, and 24/7 real-time monitoring. Regular VAPT testing and annual third-party security audits ensure the platform continues to meet the rigorous standards of regulated industries. "At PaySprint, we built SprintPGx because we saw a problem that was quietly costing Indian enterprises crores every month. A single payment gateway is no longer enough for businesses operating at scale. SprintPGx is not just a routing tool; it is the payment intelligence layer that Indian enterprises have needed. We are giving businesses the same kind of infrastructure that was previously only available to the largest global players, and we are delivering it with a compliance stack, a dedicated implementation team, and India-first thinking baked into every feature." S. Anand, Founder & CEO, PaySprint Who SprintPGx Is Built For SprintPGx is purpose-designed for e-commerce and D2C brands with high-volume transaction peaks, fintech and lending platforms requiring compliance and recurring payment support, healthcare and insurance providers with sensitive billing requirements, EdTech and subscription businesses dependent on card-on-file transactions, event ticketing and travel platforms that cannot afford checkout failures during demand spikes, and enterprise retail chains requiring unified reconciliation across multiple locations.
