  • Three years of high-volume corporate collections experience is required.
  • Knowledge of billing and collections procedures is required.
  • The employee must be able to work in a drug-free workplace.
  • The employee must reside within 25 miles of a branch location in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, or Virginia throughout employment.
  • The employee must be able to understand written, oral, or diagram-form instructions; read and interpret company policies and procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, maps, and road signs; and perform basic math functions.
  • Basic computer literacy, including email and internet skills, is required.
  • The employee must be able to work independently, manage pressure to meet deadlines, work in a fast-paced environment, and learn and execute operating procedures consistently to standard.
  • The employee must communicate and cooperate effectively with customers, co-workers, and management.
Responsibilities
  • Establish payment terms with customers and collect payments according to established standards and organizational procedures; assist with billing as needed.
  • Make collection calls or send correspondence to solicit payment on overdue accounts and take necessary collection actions.
  • Provide customer service regarding collection issues; process customer refunds, account adjustments, credit applications, credit memos, and reconciliations; resolve client discrepancies, short payments, and customer disputes relating to outstanding balances.
  • Monitor and maintain assigned accounts, including customer calls, account adjustments, and small-balance write-offs, and reduce delinquency for assigned accounts.
  • Maintain records of delinquent accounts, bankruptcies, and credit risks; prepare and file collections paperwork on approved accounts.
  • Enlist sales and senior management when necessary to accelerate collections, and communicate and follow up with the sales department regarding customer accounts in a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with commercial and residential customers.
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties supporting the Accounts Receivable Department.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to the direct supervisor.
  • Make high-volume phone calls to assigned delinquent customers and manage customers on the On Hold List.
  • Participate in team review meetings.
