Requirements
  • Degree (or related work experience) with a focus in analytics, statistics, economics, computer science, or other quantitative fields
  • 3+ years of experience in a data analytics or business intelligence role, ideally in a product, growth, or B2B context
  • Proficiency in SQL — able to write structured and efficient queries on large data sets
  • A track record of influencing business decisions through analysis, and an ownership mindset toward the metrics and datasets you build
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to tackle ambiguous problems, break them down, and deliver clear, actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to a variety of stakeholders clearly and compellingly
  • A strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity
  • Ability to collaborate across functions, manage competing priorities, and drive projects to completion
Responsibilities
  • Produce high-impact analyses on Self-Serve performance that directly inform product and go-to-market strategy
  • Own the Self-Serve funnel — acquisition, signup, onboarding, and engagement — building the dashboards and datasets that give the team real-time visibility into product health
  • Define what the team's core metrics mean and where they live, so every dashboard, report, and tool returns the same answer to the same question
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to validate instrumentation and surface data gaps before they distort the funnel or new features launch — catching the data quality issues that stay invisible until someone goes looking
  • Turn recurring reporting into well-defined, reusable datasets, replacing one-off queries with durable foundations others can build on
  • Identify recurring workflows worth automating, and help build the prompts, context, and guardrails that make AI analytics tooling reliable for the wider team
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses and design experiments to establish conversion baselines, measure business impact, and uncover the “why” behind performance trends
  • Partner with Data Science & Analytics, Marketing, and other cross-functional stakeholders to inform strategy and drive decisions
  • Translate insights into a cohesive narrative and present technical findings to senior leadership and non-technical audiences
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with funnel analytics, conversion measurement, and A/B testing (preferred)
  • Experience with Python for data analysis and automation is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with modern data stack tooling (Airflow, dbt) is a plus
  • Comfortable using AI coding and analytics tools — LLM assistants, agentic SQL/analysis workflows — to accelerate extraction, exploration, and reporting, while reviewing and validating every query, result, and insight before it reaches stakeholders; you own the correctness of the output, not the tool

Former Obama press aide Adam Fetcher charged with felony fraud for allegedly stealing coworkers' cards to buy kratom.

Former Obama press aide Adam Fetcher charged with felony fraud for allegedly stealing coworkers' cards to buy kratom. , July 24, 2026 A former Obama administration spokesperson who earned nearly $200,000 a year as Minneapolis's top communications staffer now faces a felony charge after prosecutors say he stole a coworker's debit card to buy an herbal supplement at a local smoke shop. Adam Fetcher, 42, was formally charged Wednesday with one count of financial transaction fraud, a felony, after an investigation found he allegedly took cash and bank cards from three fellow city employees, Fox News Digital reported. The Minneapolis Star Tribune first reported the charge. Fetcher is scheduled to appear in court August 11. The charge caps a swift fall for a political operative who built a résumé across the Obama White House, two federal agencies, and blue-chip corporate brands, only to be fired from his city hall post and accused of rifling through coworkers' desks and bags for spending money. A $200,000 city job ended with a police investigation Fetcher held the title of chief communications officer for the City of Minneapolis, drawing a salary of nearly $200,000 a year, according to city records. The city fired him in early July during an active police investigation into the alleged thefts. Minneapolis police submitted a case file to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office for potential felony criminal charges related to fraudulent credit card use, Breitbart reported. The office ultimately moved forward with the single felony count. Prosecutors allege Fetcher stole a coworker's debit card and used it to purchase kratom, an herbal supplement commonly used to treat opioid withdrawal symptoms, at a Minneapolis smoke shop. The purchases totaled hundreds of dollars across smoke shop visits, though the exact figure has not been disclosed. An earlier Fox News report provided a more specific figure: Fetcher allegedly made a $481 kratom purchase at one Minneapolis smoke shop using a stolen charge card. That report identified the store as Minneapolis Tobacco & Vapor, where store manager Hamza Zamara told Fox News: MORE: Arlington real estate agent charged with capital murder in 2012 cold case after DNA breakthrough "We told him, Hey, we know what you're doing." City Operations Officer Margaret Anderson Kelliher addressed the situation internally, telling staff: "I know this information may be concerning and troubling, and I want to assure you that the City takes this sort of report seriously and has acted accordingly." Fetcher had no criminal record at the time of the alleged fraud, save for a few traffic violations, according to court records. Substance abuse and a rehabilitation stint preceded the alleged thefts Sources familiar with the matter told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that Fetcher had revealed to coworkers he was seeking treatment for a substance abuse problem. He is suspected of stealing cash and cards from coworkers' desks and bags shortly after returning from a rehabilitation program, those sources said. Kratom, the substance Fetcher allegedly purchased with a stolen card, is sold legally in many states and is often marketed as a tool for managing opioid withdrawal. The connection between the alleged thefts and Fetcher's disclosed substance abuse problem has not been formally confirmed by prosecutors. His attorney told Fox News Digital she had no comment on the charge. Fox News Digital reached a representative for former President Barack Obama on Thursday for comment but did not receive a response. The case is one of several involving criminal misconduct allegations against former Obama administration figures that have drawn renewed public attention. MORE: Federal appeals court rejects Biden's fight to keep ghostwriter interview recordings sealed From the Obama White House to a felony docket Fetcher's political career began in the Obama administration, where he served as assistant press secretary at the Department of Homeland Security for roughly eight months in 2011. He moved to the Department of the Interior as press secretary, serving there until July 2012, when he left to become deputy national press secretary on Obama's re-election campaign. After the campaign, Fetcher moved into the private sector, holding high-level communications posts at Patagonia and Lyft before landing the Minneapolis city hall job. At nearly $200,000 a year, the position made him one of the better-compensated municipal communications officials in the country. The trajectory, from federal press operations to corporate boardrooms to a city government desk where coworkers' wallets allegedly weren't safe, raises a straightforward question about the vetting and oversight Minneapolis applied to its senior hires. A man earning close to $200,000 annually stands accused of stealing hundreds of dollars from the people sitting next to him. Broader questions about accountability inside Minneapolis city government are not new. Mayor Jacob Frey has faced scrutiny over fraud concerns tied to city operations, and former U.S. Attorney Joe Teirab has publicly stated that Frey should have to answer for the pattern of problems on his watch. The Fetcher charge adds another layer to that political pressure. Minneapolis faces a growing credibility problem The felony charge against Fetcher lands at a difficult moment for Minneapolis leadership. The city has already been dealing with widespread fraud scrutiny tied to members of its Somali community, a constituency with which Mayor Frey has cultivated close political ties, the New York Post noted. The Fetcher case is a separate matter, but it compounds a broader picture of a city government struggling to keep its own house clean. MORE: Special prosecutor drops all felony charges against Louisiana AG Liz Murrill after alleged victims urge dismissal Fetcher's firing and prosecution also highlight a pattern that extends well beyond Minneapolis. When government officials face criminal allegations, the public rightly asks whether the institutions that hired and supervised them exercised basic due diligence. In this case, a man with no criminal history and a polished résumé allegedly began stealing from colleagues almost immediately after returning from rehab, and it took coworkers and a smoke shop manager, not management, to flag the problem. Recent months have seen a string of cases involving government officials facing misconduct allegations at both the federal and local level, reinforcing public skepticism about the accountability structures inside government institutions. Several open questions remain. Prosecutors have not disclosed the exact dollar amounts stolen from each of the three alleged victims. The specific court handling the case and the docket number have not been made public. And it remains unclear whether the three coworkers referenced as victims are the same individuals involved in the debit card charge or represent separate alleged incidents. Fetcher's August 11 court appearance will be the next public checkpoint in a case that has already cost him his career. Whether it costs Minneapolis leadership anything remains to be seen, but legal proceedings involving political figures have a way of surfacing uncomfortable questions about who knew what, and when. A city that can't keep its own senior staff from allegedly picking their coworkers' pockets probably shouldn't lecture anyone else about good governance.

SkillsUSA, Lyft and Ford launch transportation program to close "last mile" Gap for students pursuing Skilled Trades careers.

SkillsUSA, Lyft and Ford launch transportation program to close "last mile" Gap for students pursuing Skilled Trades careers. Published: June 04, 2026 New ride-credit program aims to provide over 3,000 rides across 13 cities, helping SkillsUSA student members access critical training, apprenticeships, and job interviews ATLANTA, GA (June 4, 2026) - Today at the SkillsUSA Workforce Development Summit held during the 62nd annual National Leadership & Skills Conference, Lyft and Ford Philanthropy announced a new transportation program to help students pursuing careers in the skilled trades reach critical training, job interviews, and apprenticeships. Launching this summer, the new ride-credit program expands on Lyft and Ford Philanthropy's ongoing support for SkillsUSA, the leading workforce development organization for students, and aims to close the 'last mile' transit gap that often prevents students from attending and completing critical apprenticeship and training programs. "Reliable transportation is essential to workforce readiness," said Chelle Travis, Executive Director of SkillsUSA. "A student's career potential should never be limited by a lack of transportation. Through our partnership with Ford Philanthropy and Lyft, we are removing transportation barriers, which expands access to family-sustaining jobs and strengthens the workforce pipeline our nation and communities rely on." To target resources where they are needed most, the program allows SkillsUSA advisors, the trusted mentors working closest with students, to request ride credits for students experiencing transportation barriers. These credits aim to cover critical, career-related travel, including daily commutes to apprenticeships, job interviews, and off-site technical training. Students can redeem their credits for Lyft rides or utilize Lyft-operated bikes and scooters where available. "Transportation is often the invisible barrier standing between a motivated student and a skilled trades career. It's exactly the kind of problem Lyft exists to solve," said Jerry Golden, Chief Policy Officer, Lyft." We're proud to partner with SkillsUSA and Ford Philanthropy to remove that barrier, putting ride credits directly in the hands of students who need them most." Starting this July, ride-credits will be made available to SkillsUSA advisors in 13 cities across the United States. These locations were selected to address transportation gaps in both major metropolitan areas and mid-sized cities where public transportation options can be limited: * Midwest & Great Lakes: Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Lima, and Kansas City * Northeast & South: New York City, Buffalo, Atlanta, Louisville, and Nashville * West: Denver, Los Angeles, and San Francisco Supported by a $100,000 grant from Ford Philanthropy, this initial pilot is expected to cover approximately 3,000 rides for SkillsUSA-affiliated students through the end of 2026. "We know that supporting the next generation of skilled workers requires looking at the entire student journey," said Mary Culler, President, Ford Philanthropy. "By joining forces with SkillsUSA and Lyft, we are providing vital wrap-around support that solves real-world challenges like daily transportation. Our goal is to ensure students have a clear path to complete their training and secure long-term success." Empower Takes On New York: Rideshare Wars are Heating Up in America's Largest City.

Empower Takes On New York: Rideshare Wars are Heating Up in America's Largest City. A new report from Obi analyzed 7,876,228 associated ride offers and reveals growing consumer demand for cheaper rideshare alternatives in New York City. The upstart rideshare service Empower is undercutting industry leaders Uber and Lyft on pricing by an average of nearly 30%, according to a new report from Obi, the global real-time aggregator for rideshare prices. Empower, which uses a driver subscription model instead of a commission structure, is currently operating without a Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) license in New York City and faces mounting regulatory scrutiny. NYC officials have alleged the company is operating illegally and is avoiding fees and surcharges required of licensed operators. Obi's analysis suggests those avoided fees may contribute significantly to Empower's pricing advantage: Currently, the average Empower ride in New York is roughly $32 per trip, compared to $40-46 for Uber, Lyft, and yellow cab hailing app Curb. Download the full report below. The report, "Empower Takes On New York: Rideshare Wars are Heating Up in America's Largest City," analyzed 7,876,228 associated ride offers as well as receipt data, taken from within the Obi app in New York City. The findings suggest that NYC riders are increasingly prioritizing lower fares and predictable pricing as rideshare costs continue to rise. "New York riders are clearly searching for alternatives as rideshare prices continue climbing," said Ashwini Anburajan, CEO at Obi. "The data shows Empower has tapped into two frustrations simultaneously: riders feel they're paying too much, and drivers feel they're earning too little." Additional findings in the report include: * Empower riders take the longest trips on average - more than 7 miles per ride - while still paying significantly less per mile than competing services. * Empower drivers keep a larger share of fares, with Obi's receipt analysis showing drivers retain roughly 94% of fare and tip revenue (before any subscription costs) compared to about 82% on Uber and Lyft. * Pickup times remain competitive, with Empower averaging just 9 seconds slower than Uber despite being substantially cheaper. * Consumer loyalty is strengthening, with 70-80% of daily Empower users appearing to be repeat riders by the end of Q1. ABOUT OBI Obi is a global real-time aggregator that compares millions of pricing and pick-up (ETA) data points, providing consumers and businesses with actionable insights. The free Obi app allows riders to compare all the major rideshare providers, taxis and black cars instantly. With over 1,500,000 users, the Obi app is available in over 175 countries, providing global price transparency for riders. The app is available for free download on iOS and Android at rideobi.com.
