Requirements
  • A master's degree from an accredited program in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related mental health discipline with an emphasis on clinical experience is required.
  • Three years of experience after obtaining a master's degree in the mental health field is required.
  • The employee must be licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Professional Counselor.
  • The employee must be CPR certified.
Responsibilities
  • Provide support services to severely emotionally disturbed or disabled adult behavioral health clients to meet individual needs, coordinate treatment, assist clients in achieving the best possible functional level, maximize symptom self-management, and enhance quality of life and recovery.
  • Provide leadership in the recovery model for staff at all levels.
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and leadership to patients and staff in emergency departments.
  • Provide consultation to inpatient patients referred for evaluation and placement-of-care recommendations.
  • Assist with diagnosis, 1013/2013 assessment, ongoing management, risk assessments, and patient placement in emergency departments and inpatient floors.
  • Ensure assigned behavioral health patients have adequate discharge plans for care.
  • Support psychiatrists and advanced practice nurses in their roles within the medical model.
  • Participate in the quality improvement process by identifying programmatic issues, collecting data used to monitor quality, and analyzing information.
  • Provide in-services, workshops, and educational services to non-behavioral-health staff to assist with behavioral health care within the hospital system.
  • Maintain working knowledge of regulatory requirements, including The Joint Commission, Medicare, Medicaid, the State of Georgia, and other payers.
  • Lead programmatic changes related to State of Georgia expectations.
  • Assume a leadership role during crises.
  • Regularly perform the duties and responsibilities of the BHS Clinician III.
  • Complete clinical documentation to meet standards of care and documentation requirements.

  • Prior clinical experience providing outpatient mental health or inpatient psychiatric services.
