Requirements
  • At least 5 years of hands-on graphic design experience at an advertising agency, digital agency, studio, or in-house team, focused on marketing or advertising creative.
  • A design portfolio demonstrating sharp execution and conceptual thinking across social, digital display, email, in-app, and print touchpoints, including the ability to clarify complex ideas for different audiences across the funnel.
  • High proficiency in typography, layout, balance, hierarchy, proportion, color, emphasis, and unity, with strong attention to detail from concept through production.
  • Fluency with Figma, Jitter, and Adobe Creative Suite, with organized files that support iteration, collaboration, and production.
  • Hands-on motion and animation experience, plus interest in emerging artificial intelligence production tools and new workflows.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with marketing strategy, media, product design, audience insights, and brand identity partners.
  • Understanding of digital advertising and growth marketing trends and familiarity with the social media ecosystem.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and execution of conceptual, visually compelling campaigns and always-on marketing creative for News and All Access, supporting awareness, consideration, conversion, and retention goals.
  • Design and adapt campaign creative across paid, owned, and earned channels, including digital, social, email, in-app placements, app stores, and out-of-home, in line with The Times' brand standards.
  • Translate in-product experiences and feature benefits into marketing assets that deepen engagement and drive habitual product use.
  • Support the adaptation and extension of major brand campaigns, collaborating with creative leaders and agency partners to build cohesive executions across channels.
  • Help develop and maintain scalable visual systems, templates, and libraries that enable rapid testing and iteration while maintaining design quality and brand consistency.
  • Partner with designers, art directors, writers, and marketers to concept, refine, and ship creative that increases subscriptions and engagement.
  • Work from creative briefs, participate in reviews, and incorporate stakeholder feedback as strategy or business needs change.
  • Assist in creating presentation materials and explain design decisions to colleagues, including leadership.
  • Stay informed about trends in digital advertising, marketing, branding, media, culture, and social media, and apply relevant insights to the work.
  • Bring fresh ideas and experiment with ways to market journalism, product experiences, and bundles.
Desired Qualifications
  • Background in subscription, media, or content businesses, with familiarity with how brand, product marketing, and performance media work together across the funnel.
  • Experience with video editing software and working knowledge of on-set video production for social channels.
  • Belief in the value of journalism and genuine curiosity about The New York Times' work, journalism, and products.
  • B.A., B.F.A., or M.F.A. in graphic design, visual communication, or another related design discipline, or equivalent professional experience and portfolio demonstrating comparable design training and craft.
