Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in commercial construction with a general contractor, particularly in data centers or mission-critical projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings and evenings, to meet project needs.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold.
  • Ability to perform frequent physical activities including standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder level, pushing, and pulling, as well as occasional sitting and computer-screen use.
  • Previous experience leading a job-site team.
  • Experience with construction software.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of commercial construction means and methods, application of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certifications, and a thorough understanding of industry practices.
  • Some periodic travel may be required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage field activities for larger, increasingly complex projects independently.
  • Ensure that all subcontractors perform their work with appropriate quality and timeliness.
  • Perform and coordinate duties in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Perform project start-up and close-out activities.
  • Understand, organize, and regularly maintain project contract documents.
  • Provide oversight, guidance, and mentoring to support the development of other Superintendents.
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing the project construction schedule with input from required subcontractors.
  • Coordinate implementation of the final project budget with the Project Manager.
  • Conduct subcontractor pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager to review company and project-specific requirements.
  • Conduct regular subcontractor coordination meetings with the Project Manager.
  • Prepare and distribute project administrative documents, including daily reports, three-week look-ahead schedules, incident reports, safety inspection reports, material delivery tickets, and investigation reports.
  • Identify and resolve on-site project-specific issues with the Project Manager and escalate necessary issues to the appropriate person.
  • Implement and enforce required on-site quality control procedures.
  • Implement and enforce required on-site safety and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in the Hourigan Safety and Health Management System by following safe work practices, raising concerns, attending and applying safety and health training, and eliminating hazards within the role’s capability and control with support from safety staff.
  • Provide resources and support to ensure positive safety and health outcomes in line with the Hourigan Safety and Health Management System.
