Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Nursing, Health Care Management, or a related field is required.
  • National Certification in Case Management and a PRI/Screen assessor number are required.
  • Experience in Utilization, Performance Improvement, Managed Care, Case Management, Discharge Planning, Risk Management, or Health Care Administration is required.
  • A current Registered Professional Nurse license and a minimum of three years of managerial experience are required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director in administering the operations and activities of the Utilization Case Management Department in support of hospital policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Provide direct supervision to Utilization Case Management Coordinators, with an emphasis on the concurrent review process.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of regulatory agencies, including The Joint Commission and the New York State and New York City Departments of Health.
  • Oversee implementation of Utilization Case Management program objectives.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and employees, and interact with them professionally, courteously, and appropriately.
  • Contribute to and participate in the department's performance and quality improvement activities, including data collection, analysis, risk management and claims activities, and Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Assist the Director with administrative activities related to departmental goals and objectives, including attending on-site and off-site meetings, participating in hospital-wide work teams, and responding to requests and inquiries in the Director's absence.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Professional Coder certification is preferred.
