Requirements
  • A college and/or university degree is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant business experience is required, preferably within the wholesale or distribution sector serving small and medium-sized owner-operated businesses through a multi-branch network.
  • Strong general management, strategic business management, and operational financial skills are required.
  • Experience with profit-and-loss responsibility and a proven record of building a business and improving financial performance are required.
  • A strong sales orientation is required.
  • The ability to coach and mentor, with sound judgment of people and talent, is required.
  • The ability to identify and appropriately address performance gaps, make difficult decisions when necessary, and provide support and development to help people reach their potential is required.
  • Strong relationship-building ability and a sense of protocol balanced with an informal yet credible style are required.
Responsibilities
  • Learn customer relations, sales, pricing, accounting, business development, health and safety, negotiations, and employee development to prepare for an accelerated career as a Profit Centre Manager.
  • Define goals and strategies to grow market share and share of customer wallet within a defined market segment.
  • Identify location network opportunities and acquisition candidates.
  • Set high performance expectations and raise standards.
  • Ensure quality customer service and measure customer loyalty, including monitoring satisfaction with products and services, resolving complaints, and communicating with customers.
  • Support the business planning process through forecast reviews.
  • Provide customer and competitive intelligence.
  • Assist the Regional Manager with developing a common vision by engaging Profit Centre Managers and drawing on the team.
  • Assist with developing and applying a regional strategy to differentiate EMCO from competitors.
  • Help develop and promote a culture of high expectations, a winning attitude, strong team dynamics, pride in achievements, collaboration, idea generation, constructive challenges to the status quo, and active information sharing.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the customer base.
  • Assist with improving top-line and bottom-line business and financial performance to achieve consistent, sustainable results.
