Requirements
  • At least 1 year of work experience in a 0.6 FTE Operating Room Assistant II position at MUSC CHS or 1 year of patient-care work experience in a healthcare facility; or a college degree; or active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution; or active enrollment in a healthcare-related field from an accredited institution; or Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or equivalent training.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification is required within 2 weeks of hire and must thereafter be maintained.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, rotating shifts, and weekends.
  • Ability to participate in holiday call and disaster teams.
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Ability to climb stairs, work indoors and from elevated areas, work in confined or cramped spaces, kneel, bend at the waist, squat, and perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders.
  • Ability to reach in all directions and possess good finger dexterity.
  • Ability to fully use both legs and both hands or arms.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 pounds unassisted, lift or lower 15 pounds from or to the floor and 36 inches unassisted, and lift 15 pounds from 36 inches to overhead.
  • Ability to maintain corrected 20/40 vision in one eye or with both eyes; recognize objects close at hand or at a distance; match or discriminate between colors where applicable; determine distance and relationships between objects; and maintain depth perception.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction.
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment.
  • Ability to maintain tactile sensory function and good olfactory sensory function where applicable.
  • Ability to be physically qualified for respirator use initially and as required where applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing direct patient care under the direction and supervision of licensed personnel.
  • Perform tasks required for daily unit functions.
