Profound Medical focuses on incision-free therapies for diseased tissue with its TULSA-PRO system for prostate ablation. The device uses real-time MRI guidance, robotic transurethral ultrasound, and closed-loop temperature control to ablate targeted prostate tissue in a single outpatient session. Revenue comes from a razor-blade model: upfront capital equipment plus recurring income from consumables, leases, and services, with AI-powered TULSA-AI modules under development. The goal is to expand precise, noninvasive prostate treatment to major hospitals and imaging centers while growing recurring revenue and usability.

Profound Medical expected to breakeven by 2028 with 53% annual growth target

Profound Medical Corp., a commercial-stage medical device company developing AI-powered, MRI-guided therapeutic systems, is expected to reach profitability by 2028, according to five industry analysts. The company, with a CA$341 million market capitalisation, posted a US$43 million loss for its most recent financial year ending 31 December 2025. Analysts forecast Profound Medical will post its final loss in 2027 before turning a profit of US$9.4 million in 2028, approximately two years from now. Achieving this requires an average annual growth rate of 53%. The company has managed capital prudently, with debt comprising just 6.8% of equity, predominantly funding operations through equity capital. This low debt obligation reduces investment risk for the loss-making company.

Profound Medical presents TULSA prostate data showing faster recovery vs. robotic surgery, targets 600K patients with $500K capital model

Profound Medical showcased clinical data and software upgrades for its TULSA prostate treatment system at a recent conference. CAPTAIN-era data showed TULSA patients returned to work faster than robotic prostatectomy patients (10 versus 19 days) with zero hospitalisations versus over 6%. The company is scaling AI tools including Thermal Boost Contouring Assistant and partnering with Siemens and Cook on compact interventional MRI systems. Revenue grew from approximately CAD 10 million in 2024 to CAD 16 million in 2025, with management projecting high double-digit growth and potential profitability at around 200 sites. TULSA uses MRI-guided ultrasound ablation without incisions, positioning itself between robotic prostatectomy and focal therapy. The company estimates a 600,000-patient addressable market with roughly $500,000 capital costs plus $5,500 per-patient disposables.

INOVAIT honors Profound with 2025/26 Mount Logan Award recognizing Tulsa Procedure for prostate disease

INOVAIT honors Profound with 2025/26 Mount Logan Award recognizing tulsa procedure for prostate disease. February 12, 2026 Profound Medical (NASDAQ: PROF; TSX: PRN) has announced that it has received the 2025/2026 Mount Logan Award from INOVAIT, the Canadian national network for commercializing breakthroughs in image-guided therapy and AI. In a statement, Raphael Ronen, co-executive director of INOVAIT, commented, "The Mount Logan Award recognizes an INOVAIT industry member who has consistently exceeded project milestone expectations, reached new heights as a Canadian company, and stood out internationally. Profound Medical has achieved significant milestones and international acclaim over the last year, including treating their 4,000th TULSA Procedure patient, securing new U.S. reimbursement codes from Medicare, and establishing strategic partnerships to expand patient access globally, and is, therefore, worthy of celebrating with the Mount Logan Award." The iMRI TULSA Procedure, performed using the TULSA-PRO system, represents a major advancement in prostate care, and is used by physicians to treat men with prostate cancer and/or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH, also known as an enlarged prostate). Robotically controlled directional ultrasound is delivered from inside the urethra to precisely and gently heat prostate tissue to 'kill temperature' (55-57°C), while protecting surrounding nerves and anatomy. Real-time MRI thermography enables continuous visualization and autonomous temperature adjustment throughout the procedure. This level of precision allows physicians to tailor therapy to each patient, resulting in no procedural blood loss, no overnight hospital stay, and a quicker return to everyday life, while minimizing side effects typically associated with surgery or radiation, such as urinary incontinence and/or erectile dysfunction. Arun Menawat, CEO and chairman of Profound, remarked, "We are incredibly honored to receive this award as we work to drive widespread global commercialization of a home-grown Canadian medical innovation. While currently only one TULSA-PRO system install resides in Canada, we hope to change that moving forward as we just recently regained exclusive distribution rights in the country from a previous partner. In the meantime, the importance of that single current commercial placement in Canada can't be overstated. Toronto's renowned Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, the original innovator of the TULSA-PRO technology, has already performed more than 100 TULSA Procedures despite it not being covered by a provincial health insurance plan. Moving forward, as user interest in Profound's technologies continues to build, we are deploying our own direct sales team in North America, while partnering with select strategic distribution partners to support the business potential and the customer base in other parts of the world." Mathieu Burtnyk, president of Profound, added, "We are deeply grateful to INOVAIT for supporting a vision where AI enabled, image guided therapies like TULSA-PRO are not only developed in Canada, but lead the world. That support gives companies like ours the momentum to turn bold ideas into real clinical impact."
