Gen launches Norton Money Workplace, a financial wellness benefit for employers, from December 2026

Norton LifeLock Benefit Solutions, the employee benefits division of Gen, has launched Norton Money Workplace, a financial wellness benefit that employers can offer staff. It will be available from December 2026. The product combines four features: financial visibility, protection, guidance and education, and planning. Employees can link accounts to track spending, cash flow, net worth, and credit, build retirement plans, manage student debt, and speak with Certified Financial Professional coaches. Gen says the benefit joins cyber safety, identity protection, and financial wellness in one package, so employers need not piece together separate tools. "Employees are managing more of their financial lives online than ever before," said Casey Cullinan, head of Norton LifeLock Benefit Solutions. The division works with more than 12,000 employers.

Gen's AI privacy checker wants your email before explaining where data goes.

Gen's AI privacy checker wants your email before explaining where data goes. Chief AI officer Howie Xu, a co-founder of acquired security startup TrustPath, is expanding Gen's Agent Trust Hub with a consumer-facing beta tool. By RuntimeWire Staff - Published Sep 26th, 2026, 3:36pm CT - 4 MIN READ - 5 SOURCES - VIA PR Newswire Listen to article. Gen launched AI Data Checker in beta on September 25th, a consumer tool that says it can show how artificial intelligence services collect, use and retain personal data. Users enter an email address or username; Gen says the tool then lists connected AI apps and services, along with non-AI accounts where personal information may have been shared. The announcement appeared in a PR Newswire release. The initiative is led by Howie Xu, Gen's chief AI and innovation officer, whose career spans both large security organizations and startups. Xu co-founded and led TrustPath, an AI security startup whose technology and development team Zscaler acquired in 2018. Before that, he founded VMware's networking team and held senior roles at Cisco and Big Switch Networks, according to his Zscaler biography. The new tool applies that security background to a different problem: helping consumers make sense of the data bargain behind AI services. Gen says AI Data Checker will show what a service collects, whether it may use information to train or improve models, how long it may retain data and what privacy controls are available. Xu described the aim in Gen's announcement as making it easier for people to see what they give an AI service access to as they ask it to do more personal tasks. The trust problem is also the product problem. The utility of the checker depends on the evidence behind its answers. The live Agent Trust Hub page fills in part of the picture: Gen says it reads each app's privacy policy and terms, applies 15 fixed questions, and requires each answer to quote a line checked word for word. Its page lists rated apps, but does not say how often it rechecks policies or whether the list is comprehensive. The site also warns that the Hub uses AI and may make mistakes. Those limits matter: users need to know how current and complete the information is to judge whether the checker is a dependable guide or a directory of privacy-policy summaries. That is especially important because the product asks users to share an identifier in order to learn how other services handle their information. The announcement does not say what Gen retains from a search or how the submitted identifier is processed. Those are basic questions for a tool whose central pitch is greater visibility into data handling. Gen's telemetry, cited in its release, says nearly one-third of desktop users interact with agentic AI services. The release gives no sample size, geographic scope, measurement period or definition of "agentic AI services," so the figure is best read as a company-reported indicator of demand, not an independently verified adoption rate. The beta extends Gen's Agent Trust Hub, which Gen launched on February 4th with tools to scan OpenClaw skills for hidden instructions, unauthorized data access and malicious behavior, as well as a curated skills marketplace. Gen later added VPN for Agents and Sage, which it describes as an agentic security layer available through Norton AI Agent Protection in Norton 360. AI Data Checker pushes the hub from checking what agents can do toward explaining what services do with the user's data. A credibility test for a security incumbent. Gen is a public company whose consumer brands include Norton, Avast and LifeLock. Its history gives the privacy pitch real context: in 2024, the Federal Trade Commission finalized an order involving Avast that barred the company from selling, disclosing or licensing web browsing data for advertising and required a $16.5 million payment. The FTC said Avast had sold browsing information after promising protection from online tracking. Avast is now part of Gen's brand portfolio; the FTC action concerned Avast and its subsidiaries, not AI Data Checker. That history makes clarity about the new tool's own data practices central to its credibility. Gen is asking consumers to rely on its account of how AI services handle information, while its product must also be clear about how it handles the identifier users submit. Publishing coverage, methodology and retention details would give users a way to assess those claims rather than simply accept them. The commercial logic is straightforward. AI Data Checker adds a free, consumer-facing entry point to a larger security portfolio that includes Norton and Avast products aimed at scams, deepfakes and agent protection. It can introduce Gen to people concerned about AI without requiring them to start with a traditional antivirus or identity-protection product. Gen has not disclosed pricing for the beta or how it might convert interest into paid subscriptions. For Xu, the tool takes a familiar security task - translating technical risk into something a user can act on - and applies it to the opaque policies of AI services. Gen's Agent Trust Hub makes the broader bet visible: as software gains permission to act across accounts, consumers will need tools to understand both the access they grant and the data that follows. Whether AI Data Checker earns that trust will rest on the specificity and reliability of the information it returns. RuntimeWire, Inc. get virtually zero search traffic. Gen launches AI Data Checker as nearly one-third of users now interact with AI agents

Gen has launched AI Data Checker, a tool designed to help users understand how AI apps and agents handle their personal data. The company's telemetry shows nearly one in three desktop users now interact with agentic AI services. AI Data Checker allows users to enter their email or username to receive a list of connected AI services. The tool provides information about what data these services collect, whether information is used to train AI models, retention periods, and available privacy controls. The tool is part of Gen's Agent Trust Hub, which launched in February and includes VPN for Agents and Sage, a consumer agentic security layer. Gen chief AI and innovation officer Howie Xu said the checker aims to give users clarity about data access without requiring them to read lengthy privacy policies. The AI Data Checker is available at ai.gendigital.com.
