As an Opto-Mechanical Engineer at Meta, you will take a critical role in developing next generation AR systems. You will become part of a team translating new concepts through mechanical design and fast iterative prototyping into products. A wide range of approaches will be explored combining electrical, mechanical, optical, firmware, and software techniques. We want people who work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, are able to drive a concept into a prototype and then mature the design to high-volume consumer product solutions. We are looking for someone with a product mindset to join the optical combiners development team. The candidate will be responsible for the opto-mechanical design of critical display elements (waveguides) that have a direct impact on future AR products at Meta. Additionally, the candidate will participate in developing associated manufacturing processes that solve complex design challenges. This will be a technical lead role where the individual will work closely with optical, mechanical, product design, process, simulation, reliability, and material science engineers. Additional collaboration with project managers, product-operations, and international suppliers will be required to develop designs / processes / tools from the concept stage to engineering validation builds. We work at a fast pace with a group of highly self-motivated individuals. The candidate should demonstrate a strong ability to continuously develop personal knowledge and expertise in new technology for AR display systems and related design, process, and manufacturability topics.
