What you will do

Our Technology Solutions Group is a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with exciting changes on the horizon under new senior leadership. We are looking for you to build out scalable applications to support our Compliance, Finance, Data Governance, Operational Risk, and Human Resources teams. As a Software Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing Python based data processing layers and rest APIs. for our software applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver high-quality, responsive, scalable and flexible data access layer, rest Api and other python-based applications.  We want you to see this challenge as a unique and valuable opportunity, so if this sounds interesting, then PGIM could be the place for you.

This position is performed in a hybrid manner with a mix of work performed from our office in Newark, NJ and remotely. Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where employees meet with their team in the office on set days of the week and can work remotely the remainder of the week. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration and may be required during group specific events (Town Halls, etc.)

What you can expect

• Build applications ensuring that the code follows latest coding practices and industry standards, using modern design patterns and architectural principles; remove technical impediments 

• Develop high quality, well documented and efficient code adhering to all applicable Prudential standards 

• Collaborate with product owners in understanding needs and defining feature stories, tech leads in defining technical design and other team members to understand the system end-to-end and deliver robust solutions that bring about business impact

• Write unit, integration tests and functional automation, researching problems discovered by quality assurance or product support, developing solutions to address the problems 

• Bring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, provide input, coach team members, and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day 

• Work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires evaluating intangible variables.

• Identify opportunities for simplification in the application development toolset, striving for reduced management and less tools which do more.

• Maintain a consistent feedback loop with development teams to champion adoption and decommissioning of legacy technology stacks.

• Use programming languages including but not limited to Python, Java, or JavaScript and Angular, React, Springboot, Node.js frameworks

What you will bring

• 6+ years of experience in developing software applications using Python and SQL.
• Proficient in Python and SQL.
• Understanding of database architecture and cloud-based storage solutions.
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration management using AWS ECS and EKS.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with SDLC tools such as Git, Jira, Jenkins etc.
• Proactive and ownership mentality. 
• Ability to quickly learn new skills through self-initiative and tackling challenges.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on innovation and challenging the status quo

What will set you apart?

·Azure or AWS experience.

·Java development experience.

·Financial industry experience. 

·Direct experience in supporting back office end-users (Trade Operation, Financial Reporting).

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $130,000 to $165,0.  Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
