Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and current registration as a Professional Engineer in Electrical Engineering.
  • A Master's Degree or Professional Electrical Engineering Licensure preferred.
  • Hold a Professional Engineering (PE) - Electrical Engineering license.
  • Requisite work experience and technical skills to fulfill the roles and responsibilities of the Electrical Engineers working and performing tasks in the Energy Industry (Oil and Gas / Power and Utilities / Nuclear Energy).
  • Lead in a Nuclear, Energy, and Environmental Management Sector maintenance organization within a Department of Energy facility.
  • Experience with Department of Energy and Nuclear Criticality Safety experience and candidate must be able to obtain a Department of Energy Q clearance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply knowledge of NEC electrical code requirements.
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and other Electrical Engineering concepts.
  • Excellent math skills, including advanced geometry, calculus, and physics.
  • Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) code requirements.
  • Experience with 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) preferred.
  • Ability to walk down systems in the field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working with Design Change Control (change orders, Temporary Modifications).
  • Experience working with Lock Out/Tag Out programs.
Responsibilities
  • Act as a lead on less complex tasks and responsible for a portion of a design or section of an analysis or design review.
  • Attend company meetings and travel off-site to interface with vendors, fabricators, and other Electrical engineering organizations.
  • Conduct site visits, analyze electrical engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
  • Coordinate and work closely with other electrical engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
  • Create product documentation and records.
  • Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
  • Work as a design, analysis or review team member focusing on electronic/mechanical equipment and systems; knowledge of process control and automation systems is required.
  • Establish and maintain a filing system or databases to track project status.
  • Generate complete design specifications for more complex projects.
  • Inspect electrical components during and after installation.
  • Interact with contractors and customers using verbal and written communication.
  • Make presentations to clients and coworkers.
  • Perform a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks under minimal supervision.
  • Prepare cost estimates for customers and other employees.
  • Research, development, design, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electrical engineering tasks.
  • Responsible for complete designs, analyses, or design reviews.
  • Responsible for performing a variety of electrical engineering assignments in planning and overseeing.
  • Support development and programming for process control and automation systems.
  • Support the development of the technical proposal and provide comments on technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
  • Test electronics for problems and proposing solutions.
  • Understand and implement designs from technical drawings.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field; a Master's or Ph.D. is a plus.
  • A variety of technical skills, industry knowledge, and soft skills to work with team members in creating effective products and devices.
  • Ability to work under pressure with advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • An electrical engineering license is preferred or required (conflicting in text).
  • Creative thinking and innovation with commercial awareness, including an understanding of target user and market.
  • Experience with Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security experience; candidate must be able to obtain a DOE Security Clearance.
  • Hands-on experience managing complex machinery.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills, and professional attitude.
  • Excellent math skills, including advanced geometry, calculus, and physics.
  • Excellent understanding of safety rules and laws on nuclear power use.
  • DOE experience and ability to obtain/maintain DOE Q clearance.
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Engineer or in a similar role.
