Requirements
  • Ability to instruct a variety of exercise programs and demonstrate strong teaching and presentation skills.

  • Current group exercise certification in the class hired to teach.
  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens, or willingness to obtain them.
Responsibilities
  • Provide group fitness instruction weekly or as scheduled and serve as a substitute instructor when necessary.
  • Greet, introduce, and welcome participants; explain class procedures to new participants; deliver classes in an engaging manner; and remain after class to answer questions and interact with participants.
  • Teach scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time, with adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool-down.
  • Teach proper form, technique, and breathing through positive reinforcement and demonstrations.
  • Instruct participants on effective workout methods and appropriate exertion levels to maximize exercise benefits.
  • Identify different muscle groups and teach appropriate methods for strengthening specific areas.
  • Assist clients, answer questions, and maintain a positive exercise experience for members and class participants.
  • Assist with the continual development, implementation, and evaluation of group exercise programs.
