Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver's license must be presented at the time of employment.
  • Incumbents must be at least 21 years of age, have maintained a valid United States driver's license for at least six months, and be able to pass a driver's screening background check.
  • Applicants must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, and maneuver through narrow spaces or hallways.
  • Applicants must be able to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift.
  • Applicants must be able to assist Persons Served with tasks of daily living.
  • Applicants must be able to operate a computer and office equipment such as a calculator, copier, and printer.
  • Applicants must be able to communicate with Persons Served, staff, and external representatives.
  • CPR certification is required within two weeks of hire.
  • First Aid certification is required within two weeks of hire.
  • Medication Administration Program certification is required within 150 days of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct service in a GLE/SIE residential setting.
  • Help Persons Served overcome barriers to and prepare for independent living.
  • Implement Persons Served Treatment Plan support interventions under the coaching and support of the Team LPHA Clinician.
  • Assume administrative officer roles in the program to support the Program Director.
  • Liaise with families as needed.
  • Support Persons Served in obtaining and understanding medical and psychiatric care.
  • Administer Persons Served medications according to Medication Administration Program policies and procedures.
  • Provide crisis interventions to Persons Served when needed.
  • Maintain the physical site and ensure a safe, comfortable, and clean environment.
  • Assist the Program Director in orienting Persons Served who are new to the residence.
  • Collaborate with Integrated Team members to address the needs of Persons Served.
  • Perform day-to-day assignments as directed by the Program Director.
  • Use recovery-oriented, person-centered, harm-reduction, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and strengths-based approaches with Persons Served.
  • Adhere to safety, maintenance, Human Rights, and other operational policies and procedures.
  • Assume Medication Officer, Safety Officer, or Human Rights Officer duties as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Schedule and facilitate weekly residence group meetings, including menu input.
  • Perform primary grocery shopping weekly or as needed for the residence.
  • Comply with physical-site licensing standards and regulations.
  • Store, administer, document, and dispose of Persons Served medication in accordance with Medication Administration Program requirements, funding-source regulations, and company policy.
  • Ensure program compliance with Vinfen Medication Administration Program protocols.
  • Teach Persons Served medication management.
  • Create opportunities for Persons Served to participate in meal preparation, physical-site maintenance, and the smooth operation of the residence.
  • Encourage social interaction among residents and help create a collaborative environment where Persons Served, families, friends, and others important to them are welcomed, respected, and valued.
  • Serve as a resource for neighbors.
  • Help Persons Served prepare meals.
  • Act as an advocate for Persons Served.
  • Participate in trainings and attend supervision and staff meetings as requested.
  • Complete all required documentation.
  • Contribute to the program's quality-improvement goals and objectives.
  • Help Persons Served use crisis-intervention techniques when necessary and access on-call backup when needed.
  • Support evidence-based and best practices for Persons Served, including Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Housing First, Stages of Change, Wellness Recovery Action Plans, Seeking Safety, and Cognitive Behavioral interventions.
  • Complete the Infection Control Inventory for the residence.
  • Assist the Program Director with organizing surveillance testing of staff and Persons Served as needed.
  • Complete incident documentation as needed.
  • Perform physical-site maintenance activities according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree in a human service discipline is preferred.
  • One year of experience as a residential counselor working with Persons Served facing mental health challenges is preferred.
  • One to two years of job-specific experience in the human services field is preferred.
  • Bilingual or bicultural applicants are preferred.
  • Applicants with lived experience of psychiatric conditions are preferred.
  • Ability to establish supportive, trusting relationships with Persons Served, families, and neighbors.
  • Sensitivity to cultural, religious, ethnic, disability, and gender issues.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Ability to make independent judgments and decisions.
  • Ability to work in a professional and confidential capacity.
  • Knowledge of personal computer applications and equipment.
